Dorchester man who keeps getting arrested on gun charges gets arrested on gun charges

A man so familiar with the local cops he called out to one by name this morning was arrested after he refused to get out of the car he was in, possibly because he had a loaded gun in his jacket, Boston Police report.

Police say gang-unit detectives were on patrol on Castlegate Road around 11:30 a.m. when they noticed a car owned by a guy they were after parked in front of 6 Castlegate:

Officers approached the vehicle on both sides and announced their presence. The driver, who was not the owner of the vehicle as originally thought, put his window down a few inches and greeted the officer at his door side by name. The driver, Wesner Theodore, 28, of Dorchester, and the officer were very familiar to one another due to numerous interactions over the years. As the two were speaking, the officer noticed that the suspect repeatedly grabbed at his clothing in an odd manner and would not comply with numerous commands to keep his hands in plain sight, nor would he lower his window any further. Officers asked the suspect to exit the vehicle multiple times but he declined. When the suspect’s behavior became more erratic in nature and the officers began to feel threatened by his actions, they breached the vehicle and successfully removed the suspect.

Police say the officers found a loaded handgun in Theodore's jacket pocket.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say, adding he was also charged with being an armed career criminal, which could mean tougher penalties should he be convicted on the gun charges.

In 2014, Theodore was arrested on his fifth gun charge, two of which led to convictions.

In that case, he was also arrested after being pulled out of a car sitting on Castlegate Road.

I wish my employees put in this kind of consistent work effort.

Too bad we don't have any laws that would keep a guy like this off the streets. What's that, we do? I guess he must've escaped from lockup the last four times.

This:

is something that I totally agree with. The system keeps swallowing guys like that up and then spitting them back out again! It's crazy!!

He's clearly familiar enough with the system and resourceful enough so that he can continue to escape lock-up in some way or other. This guy is clearly a danger and has to be kept off of the streets!

They've done their job SIX times now and this guy keeps coming back to re-offend. At what point can we blame the court system for endangering public safety?

for constantly swallowing this guy up and spitting him right back out again, and there's something lacking in the court system that makes it possible.

So why was he out walking around and not serving a hefty mandatory minimum?

When you enforce your gun laws as seriously as your jaywalking laws, of course people are going to ignore them.

His most recent arrest before this, also his 5th, was only in 2014. Why is this guy not in prison? I have very liberal political beliefs and I typically believe in 2nd chances for people, but not 6th chances for someone who is clearly a threat to society.

If you're a convicted felon, you're a "prohibited person" under the federal Gun Control Act of 1968. You cannot possess firearms or ammunition, at all. Possession of same is up to ten years in federal prison, where they pretty much don't do parole. Maybe the feds should have a whack at him. I can't believe that his previous convictions on weapons charges don't amount to a felony record.

The guy will actually beat the case...illegal search and seizure..the police use that same old story in court saying they were erratic and moving funny blab blah blah...judge is tired of hearing it that's why he beat three gun cases already against them..you initially pulled up to a parked car, that's one mistake, looking for one person and noticin it wasn't them they should of left right there.bit they insisted on targeting him which they say they know him which is another nono which they shouldn't of staged in their report so it looks as if they were looking for someone but harassed another because they arrested them before..unconstitutional...I can keep going honestly ..last but not least ,,,wouldn't be surprised if it were all clear officers in the explorer truck because if you notice they don't mix officers of color with clear ..lol the black cops all be in one car and the clear in another...boston for you!!!!lol

"...I can keep going honestly ..last but not least ,,"

Please don't. I could barely make sense of your initial post as it is.

Me talk good English nicely well. Us understands the legal system and police powers of searchez and sizeures. Police does bad things and innosent peoplez goes to gail. Gunz is good and protecteth the turf.

Sad part is he is right...and it was my original point. What good are new gun laws when we won't enforce those we have? Prohibition worked so well with alcohol and drugs. We have had no problems there. Laws are impotent when judges won't sentence guilty people to appropriate terms.
