Police: Hyde Park teen nabbed with a gun near scene of recent double shooting in the South End

Boston Police report gang-unit officers patrolling the area of Shawmut Avenue where two people were shot Tuesday night spotted a bunch of guys "known to police" in the playground at San Juan and W. Newton streets around 6 p.m. yesterday:

At the sight of police presence, two males immediately broke away from the larger group, one making several hand movements to his waistband as if checking the security of a firearm. Officers exited their cruiser and walked over to speak with the two males. Due to their observations and their knowledge of the area and the subjects, officers performed a pat frisk for their safety. The officer felt what he knew to be a firearm in the waistband of one of the males and recovered an unloaded revolver without markings indicating its make or model.

A Hyde Park resident, 16, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.

Mwase Potts, 25, was also arrested, for being a disorderly person after becoming "belligerent, yelling at the officers and making a scene causing a large crowd of onlookers to gather in the street," police say.

Innocent, etc.

Potts was first arrested as an accessory after the fact in Abdullahi's murder. He was sentence to nine to 10 years for his role in Abdullahi's death. He will also serve four to five years for the unlawful possession of a gun.
Both defendants were ordered to serve three years probation upon their release from prison.

So it seems that 9-10 years later he got out and right back to offending. The 4-5 year gun charge must have been concurrent.
