Gunfire rings out on Mattapan street; three arrested

Boston Police report arresting a man and two teenagers after officers watched a mob of men running past an Elizabeth Street house that somebody in the pack was allegedly shooting at last night.

The location is in the same small area where police arrested five people on gun charges just last weekend.

Police say officers on patrol last night spotted a group of six to eight men gathered at the corner of Astoria and Elizabeth streets shortly before 9:30 p.m. When the officers turned the corner, they heard three or four loud bangs that sounded like gunshot:

A brief moment later, officers observed a group of five to seven males running on Astoria Street across Elizabeth Street and as the group was running, officers observed a male fire two to three times in the direction of 17 Elizabeth Street. Officers, at this time, turned around and pursued the group along with the suspect who was firing the shots.

Jerrod Foster, 23, of Brighton, Kashawn Stephen, 19, of Dorchester and Derrick Joseph, 17, of Mattapan were all nabbed and charged with trespassing, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Police say Foster tried getting away by jumping over a fence, but instead got snagged on it, while Joseph took off his shirt, but failed to outrun pursuing officers.

Police say they found a loaded gun and are now looking to see if the three have any connection to it or the shots the officers heard and saw.

Innocent, etc.
