Police looking for SUV driver who hit Boston firefighter and took off

The Boston Fire Department reports a firefighter responding a report of an unconscious person on Edgewood Street in Roxbury this morning himself had to be taken to the hospital after he was hit by a maroon Dodge Durango that then took off.

The department says the unnamed officer, with 20 years on the job, was putting his gear back on Ladder 23 when hit shortly before noon. Fellow firefighters and EMTs already on scene rushed to his aid and transported him to Boston Medical Center for treatment of "multiple cuts, bruises and sprains." He is now off duty because of the injuries.
