Roslindale New Year's party ends in gunfire
Boston Police report arresting two men following an all-night party at 148 Fawndale Rd. that ended around 7 a.m. yesterday when a fight broke out that resulted in brawling, at least one fired shot, a smashed window and two arrests.
The alleged gunman is still at large, but nobody was injured, police say.
Police say things seemed to be under control around 6 a.m. when officers first arrived and the apartment's leaseholder promised to quiet things down, which police said she tried to do by kicking out Harvey Acosta, 32, of Quincy. But about an hour later, officers were summoned again for reports of a shot being fired. According to police, Acosta didn't like being kicked out of the party, so he returned with pal Rudolfo Pena, 30, of Roslindale:
Once the parties came back, another fight started which spilled out into the hallway and outside which resulted in the owner of the party’s front window being smashed. While officer were processing the scene, they recovered ballistic evidence. A short time later, officers observed the two suspects who were involved in the fight a short distance from the party. As officers approached the suspects to further investigate the two suspects, suspect Pena was observed tossing something to the side. Officers then went to the nearby snow bank and there observed a .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun which didn't match the caliber of the bullets found at the scene.
Pena was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm; Acosta was charged with malicious destruction of property.
Innocent, etc.
