Teen charged with armed holdup of Brighton convenience store

Derek Price, 18, of Roxbury, is charged with holding up the Quality Market 130 N. Beacon St. at gunpoint last night, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office says.

The DA's office says Price was nabbed by police "moments later a short distance from the store," and that officers recovered a gun and a bag of cash.

The market has been a holdup target in the past.

Innocent, etc.

Quick-thinking store clerk managed to slow suspect down

Derek Andre Price, 18, was held in lieu of $25,000 bail following his arraignment in Brighton District Court, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The DA's office says a clerk at the Quality Market made a good decision when Price showed a gun around 9:20 p. and demanded "all the money:"

The clerk handed over the cash – but he also heaved about $300 in coins into the same bag, weighing it down and slowing the assailant’s getaway.

We tell folks not to resist during a robbery because the stakes are just too high," DA Dan Conley said in a statement. "But when it came to outwitting the assailant, this clerk gave no quarter."

The DA's office says that after the robbery, the clerk got in his car and followed Price - and called 911. Price was arrested on Feneuil Street with a loaded .32-caliber revolver, the DA's office says, adding the money was found in a bag near the Meineke Muffler Shop on Market Street.

No, no

Quite the contrary, dear Conley. He gave him all of the quarters...and the nickels and dimes too.
