The morning commute, like around 6:40, started with an inbound Red Line train kicked the bucket at Savin Hill and a Green Line train meeting its maker at Government Center - an occurrence that the T suggested to riders might be a good time to try out the Orange Line between Back Bay and North station.

As of 7:30 a.m., the T said things were back to normal.

THURSDAY UPDATE: The Licensing Board granted the request for a beer and wine license.

The Boston Licensing Board could vote Thursday whether to let a shuttered Vietnamese market on Dorchester Avenue be turned into an upscale shop selling everything a young professional could need for a dinner party - from wine and gourmet cheeses to self-service olive oil and home-made peanut butter.

Around 8:30 p.m. at the rear entrance to the station. The two suspects are described as black, about 18, one wearing an Army jacket and sweatpants, the other wearing a red and black hoodie.

A manhole on Dorchester Avenue near Bay Street went FOOM into the night. Residents for blocks around had their lights flicker and their electronic devices show their resentment. One resident a couple blocks away reported hearing a loud thud; she thought at first her downstairs neighbor had slammed the door.

Meanwhile, lights went out from Uphams Corner down to the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Quincy Street.

Oak Square space saver

Can't blame a citizen for trying, in this case a Brighton citizen who looked down today, saw a lack of snow and asked this lady to stop saving a space in front of her Hobart Street home:

She told me the spots were hers and anyone that parked there would regret it.

Transit Police report they are looking for a duo they say robbed two women of their purses and phones around 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday at the Savin Hill Red Line stop.

A man was shot at three times at Auckland and Dewar streets in Dorchester around 9:50 p.m. But rather than try again, his attackers fled. They're described as black males, both about 5'8" and both in their 20s. One wore a yellow shirt, the other a black shirt.

The Herald reports on today's arraignment of Daquan Sparks, 19, on a charge of assault with intent to murder for his alleged role in a stabbing attack on the mother of one of his babies by the mother of one of his other babies.

Boston Police report arresting Daquan Sparks, 19, on charges he helped his girlfriend repeatedly stab his ex-girlfriend Monday afternoon on Bay Street. Sparks was picked up in Quincy, police say.

Vargas and Vargas Insurance will spring for a free ice-cream cone for anybody who shows up at Savin Scoop, 107 Savin Hill Ave. between 1 and 2:30 p.m. today.

The agency says it's doing this as "a random act of kindness" following Sunday's stabbing, as well as part of the neighborhood "cash mob" program, in which resident flood a particular business and buy its stuff.

UPDATE: Boyfriend arrested.

Boston Police report arresting Samia Jones, 17, on charges she repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend's ex as she walked down a Savin Hill street with her infant yesterday afternoon.

Somebody was stabbed shortly after 4 p.m. on Midland Street, then collapsed at Savin Hill Avenue and Sidney Street, down the block from the T stop. A mini-van wanted in connection with the investigation was stopped about 10 minutes later at Linden and Freeport streets.

UPDATE: The Herald reports the victim was a mother pushing a stroller.
