Wakefield Police report arresting three Dorchester men they say were spotted removing the tires from a Kia in an apartment-complex parking lot early Thursday.

Terrance Jason Ramos-Farnum, 25, Joel Winslow, 26, and Anthony Sanchez, 25, were charged with larcenty over $250.

Police say a resident of the Audubon Road complex called to report "men in dark clothes" removing the tires and wheels from a Kia Optima shortly after midnight.

The suspects were seen getting into a Honda Odyssey minivan.

Around 9:20 p.m., possibly in a drive-by. Police are looking for a green, late-model, low-rider Civic.

Boston Police today identified the man found shot to death at 332 Harvard St. as Richard Long, 37.

According to his obituary, Long, an ironworker, leaves seven children, along with his parents, three sisters and a brother.

The Globe reports on two elderly residents of Trull Street in Dorchester, whose bodies were found only when their mailman realized nobody was grabbing the mail out of his hand as he put it through their mail slot like they used to do.

Stanley Staco reports a couple of cars were shot around 6:10 p.m. outside 15 Cunningham St.

The gunman is described as black, 18 to 20, about 5'4" and wearing black pants and a belt with studs all the way around. He had a large black gun as he jumped into a 2004 or 2005 gray Accord.

The Boston Home, which provides treatment for people with advanced neurological diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, wants to build a 39-unit apartment building on its property at 2049 Dorchester Ave.

Police had the King K-8 School on Lawrence Avenue and the Frederick Pilot Middle School on Columbia Road lock their doors around 1:10 p.m. as they searched for a man wanted for a gunpoint robbery a few days area who was spotted on Normandy Street near the two schools.

The schools went back to normal operation around 1:30.

Police officers responding to a report of shots fired at 332 Harvard St. in Dorchester around 11:25 a.m. found the building on fire, Boston Police report.

After firefighters doused the first-floor flames, officers found the body of a man, 37, shot dead. A woman, 34, was also found with gunshot injuries; she was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Stanley Staco reports that around 8:40 p.m., a woman sitting in her apartment on Senator Bolling Circle was hit by shots fired from outside the building. Her baby was not hit.

UMass Boston has alerted its students and staff they can just stay home on Monday due to the official opening of Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate. A roving UHub recipient of the alert forwarded us a copy:

The University of Massachusetts Boston campus will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 through Monday, March 30.

Campus will reopen for business on Tuesday, March 31.

State Police report a passenger in a car that troopers had pulled over for motor-vehicle infractions last night got behind the wheel and started driving off - with a trooper who had tried to stop him dragged for several feet.

State Police say the incident happened at Congress and Pearl streets.

Three Dorchester residents are turning to the community to try to raise the money needed to turn an empty space in the Linane Building, 1448 Dorchester Ave., into a cafe that will focus on both baked goods and the community.

Elisa and Vivian Girard, who live in Fields Corner, and Jack Wu, who lives in Ashmont, hope to raise $60,000 by May 5 on their Indiegogo site to open Homestead Bakery and Cafe:

Boston Police report a man with a gun tried outrunning officers in Dorchester on Saturday but failed after slipping and falling twice.

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man and seizing heroin, marijuana, an assault rifle and more than $10,000 in cash in a raid Thursday afternoon.

Police went into 14 Rosseter St. around 12:50 p.m. Among their items seized: 42 grams of heroin and 14 bags of pot.
