Slow going on 93 in Quincy

With little else to do as she sat there, Karen photographed the speed signboard on 93 north in Quincy early this evening.

The delays, it seems, were caused by all the hubbub over a police standoff with a wanted man inside a house on Furnace Brook Parkway in Quincy.

A weary citizen in East Boston sighs:

I'm not sure if this is asking too much, but on border st and white st in East Boston, I've already shoveled out 5 parking spaces, and everytime I come home at night people have moved put of theirs and into my shoveled out spots. I'm exhausted from having to shovel a new one every night. By that point, it's hard and icy. Is it possible that the snow can be removed during the day, because my neighbors aren't doing their part?

Wicked Local Brookline reports that, according to police, a visiting bicyclist from Jamaica Plain got upset at a motorist going around him on Washington Street, apparently because he was riding in the middle of the street to avoid just that sort of thing, so he caught up with her at a light and smashed her windshield with his bike lock. Police then arrested him.

A woman charged with putting a pedestrian into the ICU Sunday night could spend the time until her trial behind bars after her family said it could only scrape together $2,500 in bail, not the $500,000 set by Judge James Coffey.

Coffeey agreed with a request from the Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Brian Brodigan for the high bail for Kathleen Abban due to the nature of the victim's condition - he has a broken neck and bleeding in his brain and "it's not clear whether he'll make it," Brodigan said. Also, Abban was convicted of OUI in Quincy in 2007, he said.

In JP, rapidly turning into Southie on the Pond, the cones came out with maybe a couple inches on the ground.

Around 10:45 p.m. in East Boston, meanwhile, police responded to an A&B call on Princeton Street: A woman was standing in a space to hold it for somebody on their way when a guy not of her acquaintance began pulling into the space. She protested, he finished parking anyway. And then got out and pushed her before ambling away.

A Roslindale resident reports on an incident involving his wife and a guy in a car around 3 p.m. yesterday:

When she stopped at light, he got out of his car, came up from behind and slugged her; she did not see it coming. MA plate # 62MD34, small silver car.
Assailant was passenger in car with woman driver. Hopefully, with the info she provided to the police, they will get catch this coward.

Stuck bus

Alice the roving UHub photographer got a close look at the bus.

Kara Sassone reports a bus with a large Penn State Nittany Lion on the back is the reason so many Storrow Drivers are fuming this rush hour - he managed to get to the BU bridge inbound and then almost got Storrowed there. Or as somebody from the team put it:

So we have been on the road all day..are 400 feet from our last exit and the bus can't get under the last bridge on the interstate.

Alice, who took the photo, reports from the scene:

An annoyed citizen reports from Peabody Square in Dorchester:

So your policy of allowing folks to park on the sidewalk continues to lead to damage to the new infrastructure. Not only is the bike rack hit for at least the 2nd time a car is damaged too. Help!
