Lisa Paulson has her Ford Escape back tonight thanks in part to modern tracking technology but mostly due to her sister's chutzpah.

Paulson woke up Tuesday morning to find her Escape stolen right out of her driveway. After contacting police, who basically told her there wasn't much they could do, she called EZ-Pass to cancel her account, her sister, Kathleen O'Connell, reports. "Oh, well, that's funny," the woman at EZPass said - the car had just gone through the tolls on the Tobin Bridge.

Large turnout for bridge meeting

Large turnout for Cambridge Street session.

Pedestrian safety, physically separated cycle tracks, and opposition to a proposed fence were front-and-center last night in Allston at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation meeting about the reconstruction of Cambridge Street between Harvard Avenue and Lincoln Street.

More than 150 people attended the meeting, including Allston residents, business owners and transportation experts. Many wore stickers that read "Union Square to the Charles River:" A common theme was that MassDOT and the city of Boston, which both own parts of the road, need to come together on a plan to improve all of the Cambridge Street.

Gushing water

A burst water main at Stuart and Warrenton streets caused traffic issues and forced the shutdown of the Charles Playhouse because the low-pressure main fed its toilets and sprinklers, the Boston Fire Department reports:

Theater has no working fire sprinkler system and toilets not functioning because of no water pressure. Shows cancelled.

A Brighton District Court judge let a Watertown man walk out of court today following his arraignment on OUI and leaving-the-scene charges for a crash in Allston that sent two people to the hospital, one with head injuries, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Joseph Besnilian, 23, was ordered to wear a GPS monitor, stay away from the wheel and liquor and obey a curfew, however.

Smashed cabs

The city reports the Boston cabbie who plowed into a Brookline cab at Berkeley and Chandler streets late Wednesday "has already had his licensed suspended and is in the process of being revoked."

The note comes in response to a citizen complaint about Boston cab drivers:

Very concerned about the city's regulation of taxi drivers who would race recklessly up Berkeley Street last night to catch a fare. This could have been a large loss of life as many were pouring onto the streets after the Red Sox Game.

And it comes the day after the mayor's office released a report on improving Boston cab service that included a recommendation to crack down even more on out-of-town cabbies trying to pick up fares on Boston streets.

UPDATE: Transit Police now say the man they arrested was actually William Tilton's brother, James and that James is now in a heap of trouble both for the OUI arrest and for identifying himself as his brother when arrested.

William Tilton, 58, of Wilmington faces an OUI charge today following his arrest by Transit Police in the Silver Line tunnel off D Street early this morning, after his car came to a rather sudden stop, thanks to the barriers designed to deploy to stop people like him, the MBTA rerports.

Creepy space saver

Or maybe whoever put out this space saver on Cornell Street could care less about Halloween and is just warning you what will happen if you dare to try to park in front of his house, lack of snow be damned.

Suzuki motorcycle

UPDATE, Tuesday morning: Suspect nabbed in Randolph.

State Police report they're having some trouble catching a guy driving around our local highways - when he sees a cruiser, he guns his engine and speeds away.

The operator of this motorcycle operates between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., weekdays. He has been observed by Troopers on Route 24, Interstate 93, and Route 128 (I-95) traveling in excess of 100 mph using all lanes and operating in a reckless manner.

If the operator of the motorcycle observes a marked state police cruiser, he will accelerate, using the breakdown lane to a speed above 100 mph to avoid being stopped or identified. The motorcycle has no plate mounted.

He's a white guy in black helmet and black leather jacket, who sometimes wears brown Carhartt insulated construction pants.

Hevis Lleshi, who worked with Annie Dookhan at that now closed crime lab in JP, faces arraignment today on charges she rear ended another vehicle while drunk Wednesday evening.

Lleshi, 32, of Quincy, was arrested at North Shore Road and Oak Island Street in Revere, the DA's office says, adding police found her "visibly intoxicated" and blew a .24 on a breath test. The pregnant driver of the other car was hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.

Dookhan trained Lleshi as a chemist in 2011, the Globe reported last year.

Innocent, etc.
