The Supreme Judicial Court concluded today that the way the State Police office responsible for testing blood-alcohol devices withheld information on machines that failed calibration tests for years was such "egregious government misconduct" that anybody convicted of OUI based on breath tests on machines tested there should be allowed to appeal without struggling to prove their tests were invalid. The Dorchester Reporter reports some Fields Corner merchants have asked BTD to look at installing meters as a way of freeing up some spaces from day-long freeloaders who park, then get on the Red Line.

A Roxbury man was arraigned today on charges he rammed into a car on Washington Street in Roslindale while making a turn, causing that vehicle to slam into two men enjoying a nice spring day, killing one of them and seriously injuring the other, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, charges, adding the man then ran from the scene. Smashed motorcycle

Ben Chase reports he saw a motorcyclist heading outbound on Boylston Street in front of the old Tasty Burger in the Fenway slam head on into a van on the other side of the street, around 2:40 p.m. The one saving grace: EMTs were basically right there and immediately got to work.

Jamaica Plain News reports somebody who apparently went for a walk around the pond forgot to do that and so his or her car rolled onto the Jamaicaway, where, no, it didn't cause a 17-car pileup, but did just sit there for 20 minutes until some passing garbagemen and a state trooper pushed it out of the way.

WCVB reports six people were injured when a Route 31 bus driver plowed through a fence and into Forest Hills Cemetery on Morton Street at Forest Hills Avenue around 5:30 p.m. The station says a motorist suddenly swerved in front of the bus, and the two vehicles collided, then the bus driver steered into the cemetery to avoid further crashes. Two of the injured were in the car.

The Boston Transportation Department has proposed installing parking meters along the streets of Roslindale Square as a way to help remove the area's current parking lampreys, who suck up spaces for hours at a time as they commute downtown or wherever, making it harder for people who want to actually visit the square's stores and restaurants to find a space. Liberty Mutual alleges, in a lawsuit filed yesterday in Suffolk Superior Court, that the BWSC caused a 2020 flood along Harrison Avenue in the South End on April 14, 2020 by overpressuring its mains, including the 30-inch wide pipe that burst, flooding basements and parking garages and lots. StreetsblogMass reports on yesterday's announcement by DCR that, despite a plea from the Cambridge City Council, this year it will only shut Memorial Drive to cars on Sundays, rather than for the entire weekend as it did back in the days when everybody cared about Covid-19 and fresh air and stuff.

Wrecked car at Readville train station

Transit Police report that early Sunday, a man plowed into the cement-anchored sign at one of the Hyde Park Avenue parking lots at the Readville commuter-rail stop, called an Uber and then left the destroyed remains of his car behind.

Police say they tracked down the man and will charge him with leaving the scene of an accident.

Egidio D'Antuony, 60, a fleet manager for the Boston Parks Department, died yesterday when a driver plowed into him, his house, and another man at 3968 Washington St. in Roslindale yesterday afternoon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The second victim, a 62-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital, the DA's office reports.

This morning, John snapped the latest example of a driver plowing into a building in Roslindale Square, on South Street just past the curve from Washington Street, although the damage was nowhere near as severe as the last time somebody did that.

The city reports that all parking meters are free all day on Friday, OK, officially because it's Evacuation Day, not St. Patrick's Day, but still.
