Coppersmith Village

The BRA yesterday approved a non-profit group's plans to replace two abandoned buildings between Border and Liverpool streets with 56 apartments and 15 townhouses.

The Neighborhood of Affordable Housing says its Coppersmith Village project will include a mix of affordable and market-rate units - and will include a number of three-bedroom apartments aimed at families. All of the townhouses, which will be sold, rather than rented, will have three bedrooms.

Feel free to get out and stretch.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports on an incident tonight:

The preliminary information is that an employee on the tarmac suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a truck as it was traveling in reverse in the area of a plane, and it does not suggest that he was struck by a plane. At this stage, the fatality appears to be accidental and so the name of the deceased likely will not be released tonight.

So Public Works thinks it can get all huffy and tell East Boston residents to shaddup and bitch to their slobby neighbors rather than trying to get the city to do something? Think again. An outraged citizen complains about slobby neighbors on Marion Street:

A concerned citizen who obviously looks up to Ralphie's father in "A Christmas Story" complains about one particular tree pit on Marion Street in East Boston:

Someone's getting coal on their stocking! I asked for Marion Street between White and Monmouth in Eastie to be cleaned in case # 101000989879. Well, surprise! Someone in public works should have a nose longer than Pinocchio by now. The crap on the street by the curb and on the sidewalk on the odd side of the street (3-21 Marion St) survived the two snow storms in tact. I've lived in developing countries with open sewers and the trash here looks more vile. Please be sure that the cotton headed ninny-muggins who claimed to have "swept" up the dog feces, trash, empty cat food dishes, etc actually does it. Merry Christmas.

With a photo of said trash, natch.

A weary citizen in East Boston sighs:

I'm not sure if this is asking too much, but on border st and white st in East Boston, I've already shoveled out 5 parking spaces, and everytime I come home at night people have moved put of theirs and into my shoveled out spots. I'm exhausted from having to shovel a new one every night. By that point, it's hard and icy. Is it possible that the snow can be removed during the day, because my neighbors aren't doing their part?
