Ksenia Dunn got a good view of yesterday's rainbow over (and into!) the Charles River, along with some UFOs (OK, she says they were really just reflections from the office lights on her window).

Honda CRV into the back of an MBTA bus

Transit Police report that at 5:30 this morning, somebody in a Honda SUV drove into the back of an MBTA bus outside Kenmore station. The driver then ran away, police say, adding what was left of his or her SUV was towed away. The bus was driven away.

Worker at the REI store on Park Drive voted 44-23 on Monday to join the United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 1445. Unlike some other national companies we could mention, REI, which is run as a co-op, says it welcomes the new union.

Turnpike sign: Only a Dianoga likes litter

Anusha Mookherjee spotted this sign on the inbound turnpike at Beacon Street in Kenmore Square today, which is, of course, Star Wars Day. Dianoga? What, you don't remember the scene in the trash compactor with the dianoga tentacle?

The Daily Free Press reports somebody called BU Police on the evening of April 28 to report "about 50 cars on the rooftop of the parking garage [at 730 Comm Ave.] revving their engines." Turned out to be members of the BU car club just doing some circle revving, but not anything wrong, so no need to send them on their way.

A federal judge earlier this month dismissed a lawsuit by six Boston University students over what they claimed was the inferior education they got after the school shifted to online classes as the pandemic erupted in the spring of 2020, in part because there was no way that BU could have foreseen a global pandemic would effectively shut down the entire state. BU Today is urging students to play it smarter than the kids at UMass Amherst and realize that mixing Gatorade with vodka in a gallon milk jug does not protect you from getting so dead drunk you have to be transported to the hospital.

But if you insist on borging, but you shouldn't, for God's sake don't mix coffee into the swill; that just makes things worse, BU Student Health Services says.

Smashed motorcycle

Ben Chase reports he saw a motorcyclist heading outbound on Boylston Street in front of the old Tasty Burger in the Fenway slam head on into a van on the other side of the street, around 2:40 p.m. The one saving grace: EMTs were basically right there and immediately got to work.
