The Hub reports a Simmons College student was grabbed from behind around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday in the Fens near Clemente Field.

She managed to break away from the attacker by screaming and struggling, causing him to flee the scene.

A DCR worker discovered a man's body in the Muddy River in the area of the Bowker overpass around 10 a.m. today, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A tentative identification has been made based on a missing-person's report, the DA's office says, adding foul play does not appear to have been involved.

It's the same general location where bodies were found in June and March.

Fire at Park Drive and Beacon Street in Boston

The Boston Fire Department reports a four-alarm fire at 877 Beacon St. early this morning did an estimated $3 million in damage, forced the evacuation of residents of neighboring buildings and injured two firefighters.

Firefighters responded at 1:25 a.m. to the building, which housed offices, not apartments. The department says that while residents were evacuated - MBTA buses were brought in to give them shelter - firewalls between the buildings held, preventing the fire from spreading. Residents were allowed back in around 4:30 a.m.

MIT reports both it and the Lambda Chi Alpha national fraternity have banned the local chapter, Lambda Zeta, 99 Bay State Rd. in Boston, for five years for "conduct that does not support the fraternity’s priority of providing a healthy chapter environment for its members."

Sgt. Luke Taxter at D-4 reports two people were robbed around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, at Hemenway Street and Westland Avenue by three black males in hoodies, at least one armed with a knife.

The MBTA holds a meeting Thursday on a proposal to "consolidate the BU West, St. Paul, Babcock, and Pleasant stops into two fully accessible stations that will help reduce travel times and improve safety."

The session begins at 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon room at the BPL main library in Copley Square.

UPDATE: After shutting off the gas to the entire building, National Grid said residents - many Northeastern students - could return inside, but that they won't have any gas until after repairs are made tomorrow.

204 Hemenway St., around 9:45 p.m. Both Boston Fire and National Grid teams are on scene.

Two men got into a fight around 9:30 p.m. on Boylston Street near Ipswich. When it was over, one man was on the way to a local hospital with stab wounds, the other was on his way in the Back Bay Fens, possibly with an eye injured in the altercation.

Truck on fire on Commonwealth Avenue at Boston University

A sewage vacuum truck caught fire around 10:40 a.m. on Comm. Ave. near Amory Street, sending a plume of black smoke into the air before firefighters arrived to douse the flames.

Update, 9:15 p.m. NStar reports more than 2,500 customers in Boston and Brookline have no power.

An NStar transformer in an underground vault along Beacon Street self-immolated shortly before 8 p.m., plunging many of the blocks around into darkness. Power in both Boston and Brookline was affected; fire officials refrained from exclaiming "oy, the vault!" but they were probably thinking it.

Storrowed truck at Bowker Overpass

Ric Duarte was among commuters who had plenty of time this morning to consider the impressive sardine-canning of a truck whose driver learned the Bowker Overpass is not meant for his ilk.

Antoinette Antonio reports the box truck is wedged in nice and tight, so it's going to take some work to get it out.

State Police report the driver suffered minor injuries.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let the owner of the fire-ravaged TC's Lounge on Haviland sell the liquor license to a company that plans a restaurant and music venue in the new Berklee tower on Mass. Ave.

Jeremiah Tracy, manager of the proposed Boston Beats, said he's hoping to recreate the best of the old Wally's - a place where Berklee and other musicians can just drop in for jam sessions as others enjoy a bite to eat and something to drink.

Northeastern University Police report that two students were mugged in the area of Albert and Ruggles streets between 9 and 11 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

In both cases, the attacker approached the students, struck up a conversation, then demanded their valuables.
