Oh, they shouldn't be white on the outside once you slather them with butter and fry each side like you're supposed to.

Yup, and we shortened it, (heck, we have to shoten everything) to franks. As a kid, Satadday aftahnoons, we always had franks and beans.

I nevah heard anyone around heah call 'em "franks" or "frankfits". Around Wustah they were always hut dawgs. Sattidy nights we ate hut dawgs an' beans.

Never even heard anyone on the norshur refer to hot dogs as frankfurt of franks. OK, maybe I'll give you franks and beans, but that's a stretch. By the way, they're rolls not buns. As in New England style Hot Dog Rolls.
