Stephanie McMahon

The mother of Stephanie McMahon, found beaten to death in her River Street apartment in 2014, is asking a judge to find the city of Boston responsible for her death, because, she alleges, the two Boston police officers who responded to her daughter's apartment and removed her violent ex-boyfriend failed to lock him up, which let him return the next day and beat her to death. UPDATE: Victim identified as Geraldo Lerouge, 27.

Boston Police report a man in his late 20s was shot at 38 Frazer St. in Hyde Park around 5:30 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Read more.

A Boston health inspector found today that the Stop & Shop on Truman Parkway had cleaned up the mess from yesterday's overflowing floor drains and allowed the store to re-open for business.

UPDATE, 4/4: Store passed a re-inspection and was allowed to re-open.

A city health inspector today shut the Stop & Shop at 1025 Truman Parkway after wastewater and sewage began coming up through floor drains in the bakery, produce and deli departments and meat and produce storage and preparation areas. Read more.

Random stuff on a table at a local Shaw's

Shoppers entering the produce side of the Hyde Park Shaw's tonight were greeted by this table featuring: Some toilet paper, some soup mixes, Milk Bones, some nacho cheese dip and a plant that looked like it could really use some water, all under blue and green balloons.

Shoppers then left the immediate area wondering what they had just seen.

The Boston Water and Sewer Commission has rain gauges at 10 locations across the city. On Friday, the gauge in Hyde Park registered 3.13 inches of rain - compared to 1.69 inches in the Longwood Medical Area and 1.8 inches in Charlestown. Read more.

Coffee Break Cafe, which currently has coffeehouses in Quincy and Milton, announced this week it's moving into the space vacated last year by Bean and Cream on Truman Parkway at Fairmount Avenue.

They're hoping to open by April, with hours starting at 5 a.m.

Car smashed into house in Hyde Park

The Boston Fire Department reports that shortly after noon, somebody drove a Hyundai Genesis into first a light pole and then the house at 1482 Hyde Park Ave.

Both the driver and a passenger were extricated from the remains of the car and taken to a local hospital for care. Both are expected to survive.

WCVB reports that State Police are combing land around Turtle Pond off Enneking Parkway for Joseph Brancato, 21, last seen several weeks ago on Mendelssohn Street in Roslindale, where he was staying with a Marine recruiter. NECN reports that among the agencies that sent investigators to the area is NCIS, which investigates possible criminal activity in the Marine Corps.

Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park

Most Precious Blood parish.

Officials at Most Precious Blood Church have begun looking at leasing church property to an apartment developer as a way to ensure a new revenue stream for the church and two affiliated parishes in Readville and Milton.

But at a meeting last night at the former St. Anne School in Readville, parishioners soundly opposed a proposal to turn the main church building on Maple Street into 24 apartments and convert a basement chapel into the main worship area. Read more.

Fire on Hyde Park Avenue

A fire called in around 5:50 a.m. at 1531-1533 Hyde Park Ave. did an estimated $100,000 in damage, displaced seven people and sent a firefighter to the hospital, the Boston Fire Department reports. Read more.
