Brian Arredondo, whose brother Alexander died in Iraq, committed suicide on Monday in Norwood, his family says.

Since Alex's death, the biggest concern for the Arredondo and Foley families has been their son Brian who was in a deep depression and struggling. Now, all who knew Brian must come to terms that despite the time, concern, interventions and love that was shared, it was not enough to save him.

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports the city has put the T's Arborway bus yard on its list of problem properties, which it usually uses for places at high risk of catastrophic fires, excessive illegal activities and the like. In the yard's case, the issue is chemical storage and fumes. The T has shelved plans to renovate the property, citing lack of money.

UPDATE, 9:24 a.m.: The T says normal service has resumed, but with "residual delays."

You'd be hard pressed to pick a worse time for the Orange Line to die than 8 a.m. on a weekday. But there's no service south of Ruggles as the T tries to figure out where the power went. Shuttle buses are allegedly plying the roads; the queueing masses at Forest Hills are being told to take the 39. Rider Jennifer M sums it up:

BLARG

Of course, the problems quickly backed up north of downtown as well. Shana O. tweets:

Stuck on an orange line train packed like sardines delayed at CC, feeling claustrophobic

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports maybe a dozen people walked up and down Centre Street pressing grievances with bullhorns today. The two bicycle cops assigned to the march left halfway through and, yes, they stopped to protest Whole Foods - after an internal debate about whether it was worth alienating its shoppers.

A Forest Hills bridge is a connector, not a barrier, because it keeps 24,000 vehicles per day that are not going to local destinations off local streets. With the bridge, the traffic volumes on New Washington Street are kept relatively low, about one-third of what traffic volumes would be without a bridge.

Boston Police report a Plymouth man who helped lead them to the guy who held him up at gunpoint near the Forest Hills T stop yesterday wound up arrested himself when it turned out the stuff he'd had stolen was itself stolen property.

First, police say, Gregory B. Bray, 41, of Dorchester, was arrested at the T stop on armed-robbery charges after he used a pellet gun to stick up Joel Diaz-Sanchez, 32, of Plymouth on South Street around 1 p.m. Police say investigating officers found Diaz-Sanchez's stuff in a trash barrel at the station:

It was kind of striking yesterday: Around the same time, women in two separate neighborhoods were reporting being sexually attacked.

One of the attacks got played up extensively in the media, the other didn't. Naturally, it would be easy to assign bias to the fact that the news copters and vans raced to Wellesley to cover the attack by a bald black guy on a white teenager in her large suburban home, but couldn't seem to find Franklin Park on a map (with some exceptions).

Liam, who lives in Forest Hills, explains his support for a proposal to replace the crumbling hulk of an overpass by the T stop with an at-grade crossing, rather than with another overpass:

Sketch released.

Boston Police are looking for a man they say sexually attacked a woman pushing a baby in Franklin Park near Shattuck Hospital early this afternoon.

Police say the man approached the woman from behind and began attacking her. Some golfers at the nearby golf course heard the woman's screams and managed to scare the guy off.

Take this citizen complaint about leaves partially covering a storm grate in Jamaica Plain. Surely, in the amount of time it took to take a picture and compose a complaint, the alert citizen could have kicked the leaves away.
