Stupid giant storage box in Jamaica Plain

Oh, is this yours? The DPW would like to have a word with you.

For more than three days, one of those giant move-across-the-country storage boxes has sat partly in a driveway on Bynner Street in Jamaica Plain, the rest on the sidewalk and jutting into the street - forcing pedestrians to walk blindly around it, hoping there's not a speeding Masshole on his cell phone coming the other way. The Globe reports on a forum for the districts now represented by Charles Yancey and Tito Jackson - the only ones to have enough candidates to require preliminaries on Tuesday.

Perennial candidate Roy Owens, this time running for Jackson's seat, demanded the city stop asking churches to close on Sunday for "rock and roll."

Flier posted at Arnold Arboretum about killer dog

Oh, yeah, there's a reason you're not supposed to let your dog run wild through the Arboretum. Joe Growhoski reports these fliers about off-leash killers are now posted at the Arboretum: They kill the local wildlife, bite kids and bike riders, trample new plantings and shit all over the place. Stop it, the Arboretum implores.

City and state health officials warned today that Scarboro Pond in Franklin Park appears to be experiencing a bloom of blue-green algae and are warning visitors to stay well away from the water - and to keep their dogs away as well. Read more.

A bad crash on the Jamaicway between Perkins and Castleton around 11:15 a.m., had firefighters getting out the Jaws of Life to get two people out. Then police and firefighters discovered a long oil slick that forced them to shut the road between Perkins up towards Rte. 9 so it could be cleaned up.
