City Councilor Matt O'Malley and BPD District E-13 Capt. Alfredo Andres are planning a community meeting this Monday to discuss three recent shootings - one fatal - in the area.

The session starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Nate Smith House, 155 Lamartine St.

Two men arrested over the weekend for attacking their girlfriends were released on personal recognizance at their arraignments in West Roxbury District Court today after neither woman expressed interest in having them locked up. One man was, however, released on condition he stay away and wear a GPS device pending the outcome of his case; both were told to stay alcohol free.

A West Roxbury District Court judge today admonished two neighbors to grow up and stop battling over their property line.

She reserved particular ire for a 72-year-old woman whose neighbor captured her video on his property scaring his kids and then smashing a glass deck table by throwing a rock at it. The woman, who had requested a restraining order against her neighbor and who walked into court with a cane, had denied ever going on his property, let alone destroying his furniture, but then the man produced his video camera and the judge watched a video showing the incident.

UPDATE: Arraignment postponed to Aug. 1 to allow for a competency evaluation at Shattuck Hospital.

Alzy Bello is scheduled for arraignment today on charges he assaulted a woman on an inbound Orange Line train between Jackson Square and Roxbury crossing Saturday afternoon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Around 10:40 p.m. in the rear of 172 School St. Police are looking for a silver sedan with two black men inside seen fleeing down School towards Egleston Square.

Little Free Library in Jamaica Plain

Alex Markarian reports the neighborhood's latest library-in-a-box appeared yesterday on Chestnut Avenue, right between Chestnut Square and Chestnut Place - just a few blocks down from another Chestnut Street mini-library. That makes at least four of these tiny libraries in JP (there's also one at the St. Rose Street Community Garden).

UPDATE: Suspect identified and sought.

Stanley Staco reports somebody was shot at the entrance to the Stony Brook Orange Line station around 7:55 p.m. - and that the gunman may have gotten off as many as eight shots.

Transit Police report the victim, 23, is expected to survive.

Sometime overnight, a flock of pink flamingos landed on the island at the Perkins Street end of Jamaica Pond. The pond's native geese and ducks gave them a wide berth.

Firefighters responded this morning to 807 Centre St., in Jamaica Plain, where they kept a small porch fire apparently caused by dying embers from a grill from becoming a large porch fire.

Ashton Davis, 23, of Roxbury, had bail set at $50,000 today on charges he raped a student in the Arnold Arboretum while free awaiting trial for a rape earlier this year in Roxbury.

A Norwood man had bail set at $150 today on charges he used an iPad to try to snap photos up a woman's skirt from a Forest Hills T-stop bench yesterday afternoon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Joshua Gonsalves, 23, was also ordered to stay away from all T stops while his case is pending, the DA's office says.

Transit Police yesterday made their first arrest under the law after a woman complained at Forest Hills a guy took inappropriate photos of her.

Joshua Gonsalves, 23, of Norwood, is scheduled for arraignment in West Roxbury District Court this morning.

According to Transit Police, the incident happened shortly before 5:45 p.m.

But Matt O'Malley (West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain) is throwing his weight behind Chase Busch, the Democratic candidate in House District 20 in west central Arkansas.
