Massport making free WiFi permanent for the next two years minimum

Massport has announced today that they are offering free Wifi for the next two years! Since Thanksgiving, WiFi access has been free at Logan and other airports around the country due to a sponsorship deal with Google to provide the access for free that only required you to click past a splash page announcing Google's sponsorship.

The two months showed a sixfold increase in usage at Logan according to Massport and they wanted to follow up on that by continuing the program with other sponsorship.

A two-year contract with Advanced Wireless Group will continue to leave WiFi access open at Logan Airport and Massport says there doesn't seem to be any reason that it would end in two years either at this point.

In what world are we living in where a company and/or government agency just made an OUTSTANDING reversal of their policy to benefit customers...at an AIRPORT no less!

This just totally blows me away.

That's very good news. Airports can be frustrating places, and not being gouged for wireless is one less frustration. I didn't expect to be saying this, but thank you, Massport, and thank you, sponsors.
