Dan Kennedy ponders whether the Globe should have revealed the names it found thanks to bad PDF redaction - a few months after WBUR found the names but didn't publish them. Does the fact that the FBI agent had some major issues in his past change the calculation?

Boston Municipal Court Judge Thomas Horgan ruled today that Kevin "Kayvon" Edson is competent enough to assist in his own trial, following a mental-health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospitals, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Edson is charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, disturbing a public assembly, possession or use of a hoax device and making a false bomb threat for an incident April 15, not long after memorial services at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Vanyaland investigates what happened to the $15,000 or so raised in a hardcore concert in Quincy last year that never made it to the One Fund. Well, half of it never made it. The owner of the South Shore Music Hall canceled his never-cashed check for his proceeds to the concert organizer, then wrote a new check directly to the One Fund.

Suspicious backpack

UPDATE: Kayvon Edson faces a variety of charges in Boston Municipal Court following his arrest at the finish line.

Boylston Street was shut at the Marathon finish line tonight after police found two unattended backpacks - not long after a barefoot man dressed like a Southern belle in mourning danced his way up the street with a backpack on, yelling "Boston Strong."

The BPL's main library in Copley Square currently has an exhibit (in the old, McKim wing) of memorials left by runners and visitors after the Marathon last year. At the end of your walk are several budding trees - and blank tags on which you can write a new message.

At the Old North Church in the North End, you'll find another collection of tags - representing the dog tags of soldiers lost in Afghanistan and Iraq. K.M. Peterson visited the memorial garden recently:
