MassDOT announced today that it's installing specialized traffic signal systems along Beacon Street in Brookline, and Comm. Ave. and Huntington Ave. in Boston that will switch to green lights for approaching trolleys. Mass. Ave. in Cambridge will get similar treatment for buses. Read more.

Tree vs. bus in Arlington

Michael Bradford reports an MBTA bus crashed into a tree on Mass. Ave. in Arlington Heights shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Arlington Police report the bus had no passengers when it crashed outside 1194 Mass. Ave., and that the driver was taken to a local hospital for observation.

Transit Police report they're looking for this guy for spitting on a T bus driver at Union and Exchange streets in Lynn around 10:50 a.m. on March 7.

If caught, he'll face a charge of assault and battery.

Boston Police report a man driving a minivan reported stolen in Quincy last night crashed head on into an MBTA bus stopped at Talbot Avenue and Lithgow Street around 9:50 a.m.

The driver was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The T driver and four passengers were also taken to local hospitals for care of non-life-threatening injuries.
