The T says Green Line trolleys will just zip through Kenmore starting in the third quarter of the Super Bowl and that the 8, 57 and 60 buses that normally stop at the station will also bypass the square.

The T says it's shutting down service at Kenmore at the request of Boston Police, who are taking a number of steps to keep possible Patriots celebrations in the square from getting out of hand.

The Bangor Daily News reports Gov. Paul "D-Money" LePage's administration is trying to take $7 million out of a state fund so that the Maine Military Authority can finish refurbishing 32 MBTA buses under a contract for which it seriously underestimated the cost.

The authority - originally set up to get Maine a piece of some sweet Humvee repair work for the military - bid $19 million for the project, then laid off most of the workers on it when it realized how much money the work would actually cost.

The MBTA today announced that a long planned upgrade to Ruggles station should get underway next year. In addition to a new 800-foot long commuter-rail platform that will let more trains stop at the station, the T is also planning an overhaul of the lower busway, replacement of four elevators and the addition of a fifth and expanded pedestrian canopies at either end of the station. Transit Police are investigating two separate attacks with liquids this month - one at the Dudley Square T stop, the other aboard a T bus in Codman Square

Around 3 p.m. on Nov. 14, police report, a woman attacked a worker at the Dudley Dunkin' Donuts with a cup of hot liquid, causing "substantial" burns. Read more.

Mainebiz reports the Maine Military Authority has laid off the 35 workers who were supposed to be rehabbing MBTA buses because for some reason the T doesn't want to pay more for the work just because the authority screwed up and lowballed itself on its $19-million bid.

Transit Police report arresting a Burlington man they say was so angered his T driver wouldn't let him off between stops near the Burlington Mall that he threw a tantrum that included him smashing windows and ended with him grabbing the driver's throat and screaming "Do you want to die?" We thought the 34E between Forest Hills and Walpole was a long route, but Jason Rabinowitz reports today that he saw a yellow-and-white bus with a destination sign of "Harvard" in Valley Stream, NY (it borders Queens - which also has a Forest Hills). So the T is testing out a really long new route, the driver got horribly lost, somebody stole a T bus and drove it 200+ miles or the T has sent buses down there for repairs.

WBZ reports that's one possibility for dealing with South Boston bus stops that are bursting at the seams - although state Rep. Nick Collins, who suggested the idea said the real answer is more bus service.

The Portland Press-Herald reports a Maine state agency trying to make some extra money by refurbishing vehicles seriously underbid a contract to refurbish 32 MBTA articulated buses (the extra long kind you see on the Silver Line) - to the point where Maine might have to absorb the losses if it can't convince the T to pay more for the work. The Press-Herald notes: "It’s not clear what incentive the Boston-area transit authority would have to pay more for the work."
