Jeffrey reported from the Providence Line at 7:36 a.m.

Here's a first. The engineer forgot to stop at route 128 and we rode backwards for five miles to go back. Get the guy a coffee.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Transit Police tweet.

The woman was hit at the busy crossing at Waverly and Concord streets.

Check out the listing for this charmer:

The MBTA invites interested parties to bid on the sale of MBTA property, located at 68 Emanuel Street, Revere, Massachusetts. The property for sale consists of a single family residence and the associated approximately 3,500 square feet of land.

Of course, you might be asking yourself why the MBTA owns a single-family home to begin with.

Tasty Burger thinks there's a market for a burger bar that also serves up beer and wine in the diesel-filled confines of Back Bay station.

The local chain goes before the Boston Licensing Board next week for permission to buy the beer and wine license of the defunct Parlor Pizza in West Roxbury for a proposed restaurant that would also feature 30 patio seats on Dartmouth Street - as well as entrances on both Dartmouth and Clarendon.

In addition to permission to buy the beer and wine license, Tasty Burger is also seeking permission to stay open until 2 a.m.

The Globe reports that Hyundai-Rotem, the company that delivered new commuter-rail coaches that the T isn't happy with, plans to bid on the $1-billion project to replace superannuated Orange and Red Line trains.

It's not even in the top five best fare-evasion tricks on that beknighted line, Sons of Franky Cabot says, not when you have examples like the guy in the restroom, whom a conductor patiently waited for:

When asked for a ticket, the guy claimed he was on the previous train into Boston, experienced a “seve-ah diarrhea attack” and couldn’t dethrone in time for the next trip. Needless to say, that ride was on the State. Nobody in history has ever debunked an explanation that involved diarrhea.

Unlucky Worcester Line riders, specifically those on the 582 and 506 trains, were not happy campers when they finally pulled into South Station this morning. Dave reports the 582, which had a locomotive that expired mid-route, was an hour and 47 minutes late, while the 506, which was hitched up to the 582 to push it into town, was 53 minutes late.

To add insult to injury, he reports the mega-train got passed on the way into South Station by the 508, which means he would have saved time by taking the later train, which arrived earlier than his (although still later than scheduled).

Truck that was on Fitchburg Line tracks.

After pieces of the truck cleared, Fitchburg Line passengers look on. Photo by Finn.

Happened on 128 at Rte. 20, backing up 128 southbound and halting inbound service on the Fitchburg Line, since part of the truck seemed to have landed on the tracks, only it didn't.

Somewhere on the Red Line, a train bound for Alewife flatlined, leaving some riders with nothing to do but admire the ice patterns on the river below.

The 5:30 train to Lowell died in Woburn.

really do have nothing more than a big dart board in their office that they use to determine which stock excuse to post in order to justify their mismanagement of the commuter rail inform their customers of train changes. Consider the Haverhill Line, which has been posting issues with various trains since about 2:30 this afternoon. First, they started blaming delays on the (very minimal) snow. Then the delays were blamed on "mechanical problem", which was soon alternated with "equipment shortage." Now, they're stating the latest delays are due to signal problems.

The inconsistency here boggles the mind.

Waiting at Green Street for the Orange Line

Like a bad dream: Waiting for the Orange Line at Green. Photo by Kristin MacDougall.

All the doctors in the world upstairs could do nothing to revive the outbound Orange Line train that expired at Tufts Medical Center around 8:20 a.m.

This was after a Green Line trolley expired at Copley and various trains heading to South Station took a break in their morning routine thanks to switch problems.

By roadman - 2/5/14 - 4:35 pm

or is the MBTA really getting too lazy with their alerts. Case in point:

Haverhill Line cancelled due to mechanical problem. Next outbound service, Train 227 @ 4:30 pm.

Affected direction: outbound

Last updated: Feb 5 2014 4:06 PM

I presume the cancelled train was the 3:50 to Reading, but it would be nice to be actually informed of that fact.

Such as the inbound train that left this mortal coil this morning at Wollaston.

Meanwhile, Jose Duca reports his Worcester Line train got into South Station at 8 a.m. He started at Southboro at 5:20 a.m.

By adamg - 1/30/14 - 7:25 am

Around 6:45 a.m. inbound on the Braintree side of the world.

Also, there's a switch problem slowing things down outbound on the Worcester Line.

Packed Sullivan Station on the MBTA's Orange Line

In 30 minutes, 3 trains came into Sullivan too packed to let any riders on. Photo by Jared May.

UPDATE: The Blue Line joined the party shortly before 10 a.m., when a train ascended to Valhalla at Wonderland.

Dead inbound train at Quincy Center would be harshing the mellow of Red Line commuters this morning if they weren't busy concentrating on staying warm. An Orange Line train could only make it to Back Bay before departing this mortal coil, but riders from the north also got to enjoy today's frosty climes. A dead trolley somewhere past Kenmore is causing ish on the Green Line.

An inbound train on the Franklin Line decided Norfolk was too good a stop to pass up. Erich Haberman reports from the train behind that one:

7am at Norfolk now. Train's lights/air are off and we appear to be ramming the disabled train while attempting a rescue.

Meanwhile, at South Station, somebody got stuck in an elevator between the Red and Silver lines.

An inbound Orange Line train lay down and died this morning at North Station. Jennifer, who was on the train, reports:

They said “train is out of service”, but not letting anyone off. WTF.

The driver then came by each car and opened one door to let riders exit.

A Green Line train headed to Cleveland Circle decided it like Park Street just fine and refused to go further.

On the Lowell Line, a section of track made like a bad tooth and cracked.
