A man with a record that includes stalking and witness intimidation was charged with groping a woman on a Green Line trolley Tuesday evening - and then trying to chat her up later when he spotted her as he drove away.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports Douglas Ewald, 51, had bail set at $3,000 for the alleged incidents during the Tuesday afternoon rush hour.
According to prosecutors, Ewald groped a woman between Park Street and Kenmore even after she deflected his first attempted groping, told him to keep his hands to himself and them moved to another part of the trolley car. Then, the DA's office says:

It's SNAFU at Park Street, where people are sardined on platforms waiting for trains to move. At 6:38, Nikki Frankel tweeted:
MAJOR delays on green line. Been at Park St. for 20 minutes with no movement. PA said service has been "temporarily halted".

Turnstiles at Govt Center aren't working. Of course, there are millions of tourists confused. Now I know what hell looks like.
Line to get into Govt Center is backed up into the rain. Of course, there's only one frantic employee trying to manually open each one.
Thankfully a true Bostonian used his hand to enter thru turnstile and let everyone in. MBTA worker not pleased, but hey, problem solved!

Sure, there were hot trains and stinky people on the Red Line, and no doubt some Blue Line cars had the AC cranked up too high, but for sheer misery, nothing beat the Green and Orange Lines this evening: Dead trains, one rider who wanted to be dead and wandered onto the tracks, Red Sox fans, that single-door policy above ground and, oh, yeah, stations that appeared to stretch straight down to Hades. Rob Grover reports an incident on a Green Line trolley at Park Street last night that makes you wonder - again - how well T workers keep up with their own written policies, in this case the one that says passengers can take pictures. In a series of tweets, he writes:
3838 at Park St. at 9pm, the motorwoman flashed interior lights on & off, screaming I can't take pics. Why am I harassed about this?

Boston Fare Strike is planning some fare evasion starting at 6 p.m. today at Park Street. The goal is to protest the recent fare increases, natch.

Yesterday at Park Street (start around 1:25 to see the fare-evasion action). Didn't appear to be any CSAs or transit cops to make a stand against the roughly 50 Occupy MBTA protesters.

The MBTA said April ridership was up 4.4% over April of last year, and that bus ridership topped 400,000 weekday rides for the first time ever. Officials credited the widespread use of smart-phone apps that let riders know when the next bus is coming, along with an inproving economy.
Green Line ridership led the subway lines with an 8.2% ridership increase.
T officials have factored in a possible ridership decrease starting July 1, when fares increase.

Around 8:20 a.m., an inbound Kat Powers reported:
On a D Line train in Newton delayed by a turtle on the track. Driver has announced she can't move the train because the turtle will die. Waiting for an official to move the turtle.
A few minutes later, she reported two MBTA officials arrived to try to move the recalcitrant reptile.
Action-news reporter Steve Annear adds:
Officials removed it with a shovel.

An economics consultant from Maryland was arraigned today on charges of indecent assault and battery for an incident on the Green Line near Kenmore Square in 2004, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Prosecutors charge Timothy Day spurted on a woman's pants and pocketbook on a crowded B trolley between Copley and Kenmore Square on June 22, 2004.
Prosecutors initially indicted an unknown individual linked to a specific DNA sequence, extracted from the remains of the material on the woman's purse, retrieved from the trash after she threw it away in disgust.

Robinite reports the two vehicles collided pretty much on top of the Green Line at Comm. Ave. and Allston Street around 9:30 p.m. That shut the inbound tracks; arriving emergency vehicles shut the outbound tracks as well.
Ed. question: Is that intersection cursed, or what?
