Around 8 a.m., Octr202 reported:

Red Line signals dead north of Harvard. Lovely 20 min wait near Porter. Must be a nice backup by now.

UPDATE, 9:22 a.m. Jason Lee reports:

1 hr 15 min commute today covering the extensive distance of 3.2 miles. Impressive.

Didn't this also happen yesterday?
Yes, yes it did.

MBTA Transit PD JFK UMass

Transit Police report this video, taken at JFK/UMass last Wednesday, shows a bicycle thief thinking he's making an easy score when he finds a bike not locked to a bike rack - only to learn it has a wheel lock.

Please secure your bicycles!

It's a Monday-morning slog on the Red Line inbound from Braintree, thanks to signal issues.

Meanwhile, an Orange Line train refused to get out of bed at Oak Grove.

A Boston man was arrested yesterday for allegedly exposing his genitals to a woman on a Red Line train around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Transit Police report.

According to police, Henry Rojas, 59, aired his junk out in the direction of a woman on an outbound train heading into Harvard. She exited the train there, he stayed on, police say.

Innocent, etc.

MBTA Transit PD Park St

Transit Police posted this video of quick action by Det. Sean Conway around 2:10 p.m. yesterday at Park Street:

The male was about to jump into the "pit" area when the quick acting detective was able to grab the male, practically in mid air, and prevent him from harming himself.

This morning at 7:20 am, a northbound Red line train dies on the Braintree branch

right before it left its terminal. "No announcements were posted and said", said

one rider at wollaston sta. waiting almost half-hour for the train. Countdown clocks

kept jumping up and down 10-9-12-10-11 mins. T riders wondered whether the

Red Line was playing the "Follow the Leader" game and thought to decide to play

it for another 45 mins.

A Red Line train felt death's icy grip at Alewife, leaving riders with little choice but to simmer and stew, or in the case of Chloe Gotsis at Kendall:

Ugh stopped train at Kendall and a man is yelling about the constitution.

Update he is now yelling about how he could be riding in a limousine but is down with the people. "Power to the people."

MBTA maintenance vehicle falls off tracks

Firefighters are on Elm Street in Dorchester, trying to contain any fluids that might be leaking from a T maintenance vehicle that fell off the Red Line around 7 p.m.

A T spokesman reports:

A piece of equipment crews have been using all weekend for track work on the Dorchester branch of the Red Line slid down a hill today. Operator of the equipment had no visible injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The cause of the accident is under investigation. Buses have been replacing train service in that area all weekend to allow crews to perform the track work.

Transit Police report charging a Hub man with shtupping himself on a Red Line train last night while making lewd comments to two women sitting across from him.

More specifically, Richard Johnson, 48, of Boston, "had his penis out of his pants and was masturbating/fondling himself," police say, adding he got off at Downtown Crossing.

Innocent, etc.

A man with no shoes on the Red Line

The past few days, morning commuters on the Red Line have noted the presence of a well dressed man who just happens to not be wearing shoes.

Andrew Coates, who took this morning's toe shot, wonders:

Is this a new holiday? No shoes day on the Red Line?

Megz warns men: Go shoeless only after a visit to your local salon:

Red Line wedding

Or maybe there's a sentimental reason. Whatever, yes, that's a wedding party on the Red Line. Jason Robert got a snapshot of the lucky couple and their party this afternoon.

He reports they got on at Harvard and were still on the train when he got off at Park Street.

Paul MacMaster wondered:

Maybe Sob Story Guy will offer a toast...for the price of a train ticket to Worcester.

Boston Magazine reports on a Red Line bar crawl tomorrow sponsored by Future Boston to promote late-night T service. Well, to be exact, they'll start in a bar on Savin Hill, present CharlieCards for a ride to a bar downtown and then finish up with sushi in Harvard Square.

Ed. note: What would an Orange Line equivalent be? Start at Forest Hills, where the young'uns would start at the Dogwood or Eugene O'Neill's, the hardened barflies at JJ Foley's Fireside Tavern or the Drinking Fountain, but then where from there?

Just to switch things up a bit, a Red Line train died in the middle of the day, at South Station, leading to what the T describes as "severe" delays. At 1:22 p.m., Flea reported:

30 minutes and I haven't made it from Wollaston to North Quincy yet.

JosieGL updates:

There was a disabled train then a disgruntled moron who started walking on the tracks.

Red Line at Broadway in South Boston

Red Line at Broadway around 9 a.m. Inbound, of course.

Not one, but two Red Line trains groaned and left this plane of existence this morning.

Matt Laskowski captured the scene at Broadway around 9 a.m., reports:

Had to unload train, nearly 30 minutes waiting so far. Scrambling T workers. Doors were closing on passengers as they were exiting over and over.

Earlier, around 7:20 a.m., another inbound (natch) train pushed up some daisies at Quincy Center around 7:20 a.m., leading to scenes like this.
