Silver Line
Sittin' on the Silver Line
By adamg - 12/29/05 - 12:36 amThe Transport Avenger grows less enamored of the Silver Line bus:
... Last night I got on a South Station bound bus, and it sat there for 10 - YES, Mr. Mac, T-E-N, minutes. In that time 2 buses passed us, also bound for South Station. The driver must have known there would be other buses coming along, so why didn't he mention that, or why even let us on the bus? ...
But don't even get the Avenger started on dumbasses too infatuated with themselves to get out of the way of people getting off the subway at Downtown Crossing ...
Charmed commutes
By adamg - 9/28/05 - 5:20 pmImagine you have to get from Oak Grove to the new convention center. Now imagine that your commute on the Orange, Red and Silver Lines goes perfectly - as in, get off the Orange Line, get to the Red Line platform and a train is coming in. Weird, huh?
But, wait, it gets better. Nicole Marie reports how she made a mistake and wound up at the Boston College stop and then was able to take the trip back into town for free thanks to a kindly T worker:
... so long story short she let me get on for free because I "fell asleep". The guy behind me was like "I fell asleep too!" and the lady was like "YOU still have to pay, SIR!"
The case against another Silver Line tunnel
By adamg - 8/16/05 - 8:18 pmBad Transit makes the argument against the T's proposed South End/South Boston tunnel.
One way to improve the reputation of the Silver Line
By adamg - 5/13/05 - 3:49 pmMarc notes the imminent arrival of Silver Line service betweeen South Station and Logan Airport by writing that the T has been making the sometimes reviled bus line look better in comparison to the subways:
... Slowly but surely, the agency is making the silver line look pretty good, if only by making its trains entirely unreliable. Clever.
Taking in the sea air
By adamg - 1/18/05 - 8:32 pmLeslie and friends ride around on the new Silver Line waterfront extension, checking out all the new stations, like the one at the federal courthouse:
...It was quite elaborate with embossed metal panels, and a huge upper concourse with violet UFO-style lighting. The escalators go up to a bright, glass-enclosed entry kiosk. Since it was a holiday, there hadn't been much traffic on the further reaches of the line, but quite a few people actually got on at the Courthouse Station for the trip under the channel to South Station. ...
