MBTA officials today showed off the first of 60 diesel-hybrid buses that they say will save money on fuel - and give T police real-time surveillance of bus riders.

So this train pulls into State Street and the doors just won't open, to the point where people start banging on the doors, which, of course, does nothing to make them work. The T finally managed to unload that train somehow, but now it's reporting "severe" delays on the Citrus Line.
Around 9 p.m., the driver of a Golden Temple delivery vehicle proved unable to gau around a trolley in Washington Square, Brookline. The two vehicles were still there 30 minutes later when Joe Ranft arrived on scene. Rachel Chernick reports:

An Allston man faces drunk-driving charges after police found him and his car on the tracks at North Station early this morning, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Neal Doyle captured a new commuter-rail train chugging along the Grand Junction rail line in Cambridge towards the Charles today.
The T and Amtrak occasionally use the line, which crosses the Charles under the BU Bridge, to transfer trains from the north side of Boston to the south - it's the only north/south link inside 495. State officials hope to one day use... Read more

Transit Police have released photos of a guy they say unzipped and "intentionally exposed his genitalia to several passengers" on an outbound Orange Line train between Back Bay and Mass. Ave. around 8:20 p.m. yesterday.
The guy then exited the train at Mass. Ave., police say.

The dreaded slippery rail struck again this morning.
On Thursday morning, a rider on the 93 bus handed driver Richard Cooper a wallet that was just sitting there - a wallet with $1,735 in it.
