Cat on the Orange Line

Marc Ebuña had some time for some selfie action on the inbound Orange Line just before Tufts Medical Center due to a disabled train somewhere ahead of him, his cat, and the other riders on the train around 4:20 p.m. As of 4:55 p.m., everything seemed clear, though.

There's a train pushing up daisies at Davis that is causing "moderate" delays on the Red Line and a train that took too many Eat Me cakes at Wonderland that is causing "minor" delays on the Blue Line.

UPDATE, 11:10 p.m. Service has resumed with "minor" delays.

"Severe" problems on the Orange Line due to a "track" problem at State, the T advises. The track problem turned out to be a fire in an electrical cable that brought Boston firefighters to the platform. The T is going to try to re-route around the bad cable.

The Orange Line is shut between Back Bay and North Station. NO BUSTITUTION. Use the Green Line or Silver Line or walk.

State officials announced today they'll be shutting Commonwealth Avenue near the BU Bridge July 26 to Aug. 14 as they work to replace the increasingly creaky bridge where the street crosses over the turnpike and the tracks used by the Worcester Line and Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited service.

Paths will be kept open for pedestrians and bike riders, MassDOT announced today. Read more.

The T reports "moderate" delays on the Green Line due to a deceased trolley at Copley Square.

UPDATE: The T now reports "severe" delays, says the flatlined trolley is at Boylston. Unclear if it's a different one or they managed to get the Copley one running just long enough to move the problem a station down.

Overcrowded Lowell Line train

A crescendo of complaints by commuter-rail riders about cancellations, delays and overcrowded trains reached a new peak this morning as commuters into both North and South stations vented their frustration online.

UPDATE, Thursday, 10 a.m.

Greenbush train 091 (which left South Station around 8:25 p.m.), hit somebody on the tracks just south of Savin Hill.

Transit Police report that the "trespasser," a 24-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

At 10:17 p.m., M.McG reported she and other passengers were still on the train, still not moving.

New Orange Line car

Neil the roving UHub photographer took in the mockup of a new Orange Line car on City Hall Plaza today, reports the T is going with the shiny, slidey plastic seats. They're scheduled to arrive by 2022.
