Misogny in Sports. How Refreshing.
So people who wear "pink hats" to sporting events (read: women) are annoying know-nothing bandwagon fans who will detract from the "real fans'" (read: men) sporting experience? Um. Ok.
Jumping to Conclusions. How Refreshing.
I've been a half-season-ticket holder at Celtics games for ten (long, frustrating) years. Our neighbor up in the cheap seats is a woman named Karen, who has been a season-ticket holder for much longer than I've been. She has two tickets to every game and often comes by herself, since most people she knows couldn't be bothered to go see the team when they're struggling.
She knows more about the team, the history, and the game than 9 out of 10 (maybe 10 out of 10) male sports fans I know. And I know when we say hi for the first time on opening night, she'll be just as bemused and disdainful of the dilettantes and bandwagon-hoppers as the "real male fans" in the section with her.
Plus, if you read Kevin's post, he calls out four different types of annoying frontrunning fans, only one of which involves pink hats.
Does she wear a pink hat though?
I would never make a crack at someone for being female, but I'm certainly going to make fun of anyone who wears a Sox hat in a color that has nothing to do with the team colors.
Eeka Understands!
It has little to do with being female and a lot to do with being a person who only goes to ballgames when the team is "in". There are plenty of male specimens (rather than speci-womens?) of this type, just not so easily identified.

I HATE pink hats. Let's leave the pink hats for the tween set. I'm with Eeka on this one.
