Thank you, Don! That was genuinely useful.
And more information than I've been able to find anywhere else, including the city web site and local newspapers.
In summary:
There will be a preliminary election on September 25 in Districts 7 and 9 ONLY, because three or more candidates are running for the district seats. The top two vote-getters in the preliminary will advance to the final on November 6.
There will be no preliminary election in the other seven districts, because only one or two candidates are running for these seats. The final (and only) election will be November 6.
There will be no preliminary election for the four at-large seats, because a special bill was passed to avoid having one. (Where were the news media when this happened?) All nine candidates for these seats will be on the November 6 ballot.
Thank you once again, Don.
Current links. Websites. Addresses for email.
Would any of you nice folks have the particulars about
a. what are the candidates' current web links?...
b. what are the candidates' addresses for email ?...
Not me, sorry
If you live in one of these districts, you are presumably getting junk mail or literature drops from the candidates. Don't those leaflets have web sites on them? If they don't, the candidates are behind the times.
Don Saklad doesn't live in Boston AT ALL
So one might wonder why he's so obsessed with our elections.
And neither do I ...
but the topic can be interesting at times. It's not every day that the state legislature goes to the trouble of annulling a local municipal election.
