The Jesus Volvo spotted in the South End

Back when we lived in Brighton (man, has it really been 14 years already?), one of the neighborhood characters was the mysterious driver of this ancient brown and white Volvo with "God Loves You" painted on the trunk. We never saw it parked or the face of the driver, but it was always around.

A couple months back, we were driving down Chestnut Hill Avenue in Brookline and spotted him at Rte. 9. Now Cowbark takes a photo of the Jesus Volvo in the South End.

Too funny - I had no idea it was already famous. I was a little freaked out that they were just sitting there parked, with four people completely silent in the car. It's not like they were in front of a store and someone had run in to grab something, you know? I also noticed that they had small bookmark sized slips of paper that said "God Bless You" on them sitting in a stack on the dash. Maybe this is this guys car?

Plus, it's too subtle for him :-).

Certainly a nicer sentiment than most bumperstickers.

...but I know it's the same car I often see near my apartment, on Comm near Redford/Walbridge sts.

There is the Jesus house on Cherry st. in Somerville. He has a few cars w/ billboards on them and he drives them around. Rumor has it that his (now grown) daughters would take the placards off the car and hide them behind the local convienice store w/ the shops owner's permission when they needed to use the car. He also had a huge billboard on top of the house but the city made him take it down. His house is/was covered w/ scripture. (haven't been past there in a while)
