Say what you will about BU students, at least they're not cutting down trees with handsaws
A Harvard Lampoon editor was arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to cut down trees on the traffic island in front of the Lampoon building:
... Powers ran from the scene holding a handsaw, having slashed partway through the bases of three trees. He was chased by the officer and held until Cambridge police arrived, according to Harvard and Cambridge police logs.
"It doesn't make a difference if you’re a Harvard student," Pasquarello said. "People do foolish things, and then they get arrested."
The Cambridge Chronicle has more, including the fact the city had planted the trees just the week before. Lampoon editors and Cambridge have feuded over trees for a couple decades - former Mayor Al Vellucci finally gave up trying to have a tree grow in front of the Lampoon building after trees planted there kept getting cut down.

Can anyone tell why they
Can anyone tell why they have "feuded" over the planting of trees? Why would they be against trees outside the building?
Simple answer
Lampoon editors don't think the front of their "interesting" building should be hidden by anything so garish as a tree.
The New York Times wrote about the Lampoon, the tree and Al Vellucci in 1991.
Vellucci kind of hated Harvard. The reason the main street from Mem. Drive to the Square is JFK Street is because Vellucci became convinced Harvard was going to change the name of the Kennedy School of Government and he got the city council to do what it could to ensure "Kennedy" would always be associated with the school, by changing the name of Boylston Street.
Because Lampoon kids are
Because Lampoon kids are notorious assholes, even for Harvard students.
