Newbury Street not immune to post-game stupidity

Boston Police report on trouble on Newbury Street:

At about 12:15am, on Monday, October 29, 2007, officers assigned to the Fenway area for the Red Sox World Series game, received a radio call for a large group vandalizing cars along Newbury Street. On arrival, officers observed and counted 16 cars that had been vandalized. Most of the damage consisted of broken or ripped off side view mirrors, broken windows and damaged windshield wipers.

Boston Police report arresting a total of 22 people - mostly under 24; State Police arrested another 15.

Boston Police also report on an incident on Huntington Avenue around 2:20 a.m.:

According to the victim, he was driving along Huntington Avenue when a large crowd gathered in front of his motor vehicle. Victim further states that when his car came to a stop, an unidentified white male ran jumped onto the hood of his car and, then, ran over the car from front to back. According to the victim, the suspect shattered his rear window.

police were tied down in Fenway and couldn't respond in time to catch the real trouble makers.

do you think they had 1000 cops in one area? they did have small groups of cops that could quickly respond to different areas. it is just impossible to cover the whole are all at once. you don't know what you are talking about.

I'm willing to bet this didn't happen on the swank part of Newbury, but on the "other side" that connects to Brookline Ave. right before it goes over the Pike. I could be wrong, because there's no address given on the BPD blog.

Christ...I mean...just who do these people think they are, believing that celebrating the Red Sox victory gives them the right to vandalize people's cars?!?Really...Just what do these idiots think they're trying to prove by those kinds of actions/behaviours. They need to be arrested and thrown in the slammer for afew hours, because they're giving Boston a black eye and a bad name. These people need to grow up already, instead of acting like big babies.
