Tom Brady NOT suspended for steroid use
By adamg - 11/7/07 - 11:56 am
Ah, so this is why my server logs started showing lots of hits yesterday from people searching on variations of "Tom Brady substance abuse."
These are the same people who got fired at WAAF for "reporting" that Tom Menino had died in a car crash. They're now back in Boston, via WBCN, which, of course, broadcasts Patriots games.

Libel

Why settle on the name "make-stuff-up Tuesday" when they could just call it the "libel line"? I suppose the callers aren't the ones committing libel so that wouldn't be exactly right. What about just changing the day of the piece and calling it slander sunday? That has a better ring, but I it might get in the way of WBCN's broadcast of Patriots games if they are still licensed to play them by this Sunday.
and on the official Patriots radio station, at that!

I don't understand why any station would employ these morons, or why anyone listens to them. I hope they get fired again.

Its really nice that this was played on the Patriots home radio station WBCN.
I wonder if this is the same thing

Yesterday morning in the dentist's office, the receptionist changed the station to WEEI, saying she'd just heard that NFL was going to suspend Brady for 4 games -- for his yelling at the refs after this weekend's match -- and would be holding a press conference at 9:30.
I wonder if that's how it filtered thru the grapevine...

To be fair everyone and their uncle knows these guys for the clowns they are, sock jocks with a bad sense of humor that can be pretty funny.
I think it really points out just how easily the population is and can be duped by media in this day and age. Doesn't also show how bad the news media is to reacting and getting stories right? People need to know their news sources and question those who might not be reliable. The irony, audacity and humor in all of this is not at the story itself, but the fools gullible enough to believe it at face value. Sorry it isn't packaged in the supermarket checkout isle, but as a grown adult you should be able to spot it for what it was.
Oh, and the Menino bit back in the day was actually pretty funny...

At Cursed to First, Beth kicks things off with an e-mail she just sent to WBCN program director Dave Wellington (dwellington@wbcn.com). She adds:
