In capitalist Russia, LiveJournal owns you

The Unseemly Bostonian begins to plan an exit from LiveJournal now that its American owner is selling it to a Russian company with ties to the Kremlin:
Politics aside this is just plain bad, bad, bad. It surprises me that people raised such a hooplah about the sale to Six Apart, and yet there has been no backlash on something that not only threatens LiveJournal but us all as individual members. Anyone else thinking of jumping ship?
Iscari0t doesn't like the idea, either:
I have turned off automatic payments until further notice.
WTF.

Russia and LiveJournal
Maybe I am misconstruing the news, but I read the announcement as Livejournal is selling the Russia version of its web service to a Russian company and that remaining Livejournal service will be run separately from the Russian version.
No, all of LJ is being sold to the Russian company
which will have an American subsidiary in California. The whole deal makes me nervous, but I'm not ready to jump ship yet.
Phase 2
They originally gave that company the right to run LJ-Russia. Now they're selling the whole thing.
Things to worry about
This comes just a few days after LJ added a feature with which users can flag "offensive" posts. That worries me.
Having my email address and credit card number in the hands of a Russian company worries me too.
Flagging offensive posts
I decided to flag the official announcement as an "offensive post".
Brilliant.
Brilliant.

Keep in mind, I only saw the announcement this morning getting ready for work, and only had time for a cursory glance. Wait until tonight; there will be wank.
Does anyone know if there's
Does anyone know if there's some way to migrate or download all of one's LJ entries? I don't trust this company not to go belly-up in 6 months, and I've got 4 years worth of stuff on my LJ.
Best. Headline. Ever.
I can always appreciate the random Yakov Smirnoff reference. What a country!
