Gay bars haven't disappeared - they've just gone guerrilla

Robert David Sullivan recently bemoaned the loss of gay bars in Boston. Drinkboston.com counters with an interview with Josh Gerber, co-founder of Boston Guerrilla Queer Bar Boston, a group that gathers once a month at a different "straight" bar to mix things up a bit:

Neither drinkboston.com nor Josh intended to give the impression that Guerrilla Queer Bar - Boston excludes gays 40 and over. Anyone -- younger, older, even straight -- can sign up for announcements for the group's events.
20s, 30s, 40s, girls, guys, everybody
The main demographics happens to be 20-30s, but that's not due to exclusion. GQB works by word of mouth, e-mails, Facebook, etc., and is open to everyone. I've been to two, and the crowd is more diverse in every way (gender, race, age) than any gay bar in town. Mostly 20-30s, but plenty of people 40 and on, including many of my friends.
