Stamping out youth smoking

Chris Lovett discusses efforts to get stores in certain neighborhoods to stop putting up cigarette posters:
...
According to a survey by the youth group Sociedad Latina, the neighborhood with the highest percentage of store ads promoting tobacco products was Dorchester, with more than 49%. The figures were almost as high for Mattapan, South Boston and Mission Hill. ...

Are any of the ads on the outside of the store?
That is, not behind the glass window, but actually affixed to the outside window or wall? If so, the best way to get rid of the ad is to deface it with an appropriate message. There used to be a convenience store in Porter Square with a cigarette ad out front. The ad disappeared soon after I wrote stuff like "CANCER CURES SMOKING" on it with a black magic marker.
I Smoke
Thought I'd get the disclaimer out of the way right off the bat.
Ron - While I won't argue with the truth of your graffiti, I fail to see how a righteous guy like yourself can condone defacing private property. If everybody went around writing stuff in black magic marker on things they didn't like, the whole world would soon be covered in black magic marker - including you and me :-)

You are correct Suldog, but that is too much logic for Ron too handle.
On the other hand
Defacing posters on exterior walls and billboards could be seen as the people's reappropriation of the commons. It brings one-way communication into a dialogue. It can change corporate propaganda into collective artwork.

Yes, Comrade, I agree. The people should be given all the private property. Your theories are revolutionary.
Dual Use Posters
I've half a mind to think the window posters are positioned to conceal certain off the books transactions. Theres something fishy going on at the DaJaJo's and Three Brothers bodegas here in Rosi. Never mind that the giant posters for "Camel Extra Wide Smooth Vanilla" are gross.
Stamping out smoking youths
If I see a youth smoking, I should stamp him out before he really starts to flame!
Only you can prevent childfires!
Hah!
Reminds me of the scene from The Honeymooners:
Norton: Hey, Ralph, do you mind if I smoke?
Ralph: I don't care if you burn.

Smoking, etc.
A perfect solution. Get rid of the tobacco ads and replace them with lottery ads. Get the kids hooked on the "cardboard crack" instead of good ol' smokes!
