Boston Police try to take back the streets

Boston Police report arresting 67 people wanted on drug- and gang-related charges over the past 24 hours in an attempt to crack down on an explosion of violence this week that has seen five people shot to death, three others wounded and bystanders scurrying for cover as gunmen open fire.

Also participating in the crackdown: State Police, the FBI and a variety of other state and federal agencies.

In addition, Police Commissioner Ed Davis says he has increased the presence of uniformed officers on the street and is stepping up efforts by detectives to crack down on violent crime:

The goal of the operation is to send a clear message to criminals that gun violence will not be tolerated in our community. The roundup is focused on known offenders, many of whom are active gang members. At this stage of the operation, officers have nabbed 67 criminals, seized 4 guns and netted various narcotics including marijuana, cocaine and heroin.

Police work is effortless

The police don't solve murders nor do they stop crime. Sometimes innocent people are taken off of the street and put in jail because the police falsify documents. They have done that to me a couple of times and other acquaintances.
I guess that goes back to getting to know someone huh? The police are given tips and that is how crimes are solved and drug busts are constructed. There are many players that i know personally who have been dealing drugs for years and never caught. These people aren't making millions but they are living very comfortably. We all want violence to stop and that is no doubt but think about it. If violence was to stop we would not needs cops and then that would bring more poverty and or foreclosures. I mean don't get me wrong. I am not saying that i want the violence to continue but i am saying that police do create their own job security. There are police who are part of the underworld and upperworld. These police tend to play jump rope with that then blue line. All in all one thing is definitely true. Drug dealing will not stop until the police stop dealing them too. Prime example is the evidence incident where they stole all of the drugs and replaced some with aspirin. Can i get a fight the power fist?

As long as people like you, who know the thugs going around causing the problems, keep quiet, the problem will go on. Fight the power fist? Nah, you're not fighting any power. You're just another sucker, another accomplice.

panic mode

lots of frayed nerves in the house of glass, every time the "shot spotter" alarm rings, people with lots of temporary stars on their shoulders start colliding into each other lining up for some "yes man" time with big ed.

It just hit close to home

I found out yesterday that I knew the victim of the Tuttle Street stabbing death (he was in his early twenties, not in his thirties, as the reports stated), as he was a regular at the local bar. Nothing to really say, other than that it is very sad and the details about his murder keep coming in through friends.

it just strikes me as odd

it just strikes me as odd that municipalities can be so reactive. why couldn't all of the outstanding warrants have been served a long time ago? just seems like a band-aid on a broken leg and a lot of overtime and double-shifts to give the appearance of substantial work. but if police resources were being used more effectively, then all of the these toughs with outstanding warrants would have been off the streets long ago.
