Amazing: An interesting presidential primary in Massachusetts
Ted Kennedy endorsing Obama, so take that, Mistah Speakah.
Susan H. analyzes:
... This endorsement, completing the trifecta, pits the full weight of the senior names against the entrenched interests on Beacon Hill. Sal Di Masi has endorsed Hillary Clinton, along with a substantial number of State Representatives and if I am not mistaken,Clinton counts the Senate President, Terry Murray as a supporter as well. This could have serious consequences on Deval Patrick's future as he attempts to get his proposals through the legislature. ...
On Blue Mass. Group, David sorta, more or less, endorses Obama:
... Why am I less than enthusiastic? Because I continue to harbor serious concerns about whether Obama can deliver on what he says he wants to do -- to the point of wondering whether he even knows where to start. Because I think a fair amount of what Paul Krugman has been saying is accurate. Because I wish Obama had more courage (or less bias, or whatever is driving him) on full equality for gay people. Because the flashes of arrogance he has shown are both unpleasant (no, I do not want to "have a beer" with Obama) and reminiscent of our current president. Because we're supposed to be electing a president, not a messiah, yet to listen to a lot of his supporters you could be forgiven for not being sure they know the difference, and cults make me very nervous. ...
And then he lists the reasons he will vote for Obama over Clinton.

Comments
What I find stunning is how the Clinton's have
successfully injected race into this, and then stepped
back and said: "Aw shucks, let's not go and get racial now!"
Today on drudge, Bill Clinton in what seems a non-sequiter,
manages to link Obama and Jesse Jackson:

How do you think that will play in the Super Tueday
southern states?
I'm glad Teddy came out and broke for Obama. And I
hope that this vast left-wing conspiracy against him
fails.
Cognitive disconnect
Because we're supposed to be electing a president, not a messiah, yet to listen to a lot of his supporters you could be forgiven for not being sure they know the difference, and cults make me very nervous. ...
Substitute "governor" for "president", then read David's old posts endorsing Deval Patrick in '06.
Agreed on one level
But instead of shilling for Coke/Texaco/Ameriquest,
Obama actually worked in the community. Deval Patrick
was a trophy catch for a bunch of Fortune 100's. Then
he parlayed it ( a la the Mittser) into a gubernatorial
stint.
I'm willing (in Bubba's words) to roll the dice with
Obama.
Another Cognitive Disconnect
This is the same Teddy who was willing to sell out the health of tens of thousands of minority constituents living near Filthy Five Power Plants to preserve the unobstructed vacation home views of wealthy Nyahkuhs, no? Is he trying for a makeup call here?
Agreed on that
And let's not forget that John Kerry joined
Kennedy in that particular exercise in NIMBY.
Not a proud moment.
I disagree with him on a lot of issues. But when
you have Bill Clinton playing the race card the
way he did in SC this weekend, and he gets called on
it like this, I love that. Clinton's Jess Jackson
line was as cyncical and racist as Louise Day Hick's
tag line, "you know where I stand."
Teddy's just trying to
Teddy's just trying to compensate for calling him Osama Obama, but otherwise he'd endorse Bubber's wife.
Well . ..
Now that Obama's received the drunk-driving murderer's endorsement, he should have this whole election just about wrapped up.
Another view on the Kennedy endorsements
Miss Kelly: Note To Kennedies: The Monarchy is Over, Thanks.
Not to nitpick on Miss Kelly, but...
...I'm pretty sure that the plural for Kennedy is "Kennedys" not "Kennedies". I'm fine with letting most misspellings pass, but that one hurts my brain to read.
Putting the "die" ...
...back in "Kennedie".
Just wondering, Bruce,
Are you as obsessed with Laura Bush killing Michael Douglas by running a stop sign as you are with Ted Kennedy killing Mary Jo Kopechne by driving off a bridge?
What?
n/t
Parity
Lots of people did foolish things in their youth.
But for some reason certain people can't ever say "Teddy Kennedy" without saying "Chapaquiddick" or "Drunk Murderer" or some such.
If fair is fair, these people shouldn't say "Laura Bush" without saying "Skid Marks" or "Stop Sign."
But for some reason the name Michael Dutton Douglas isn't as familiar to us as "Mary Jo Kopechne." Why not? It's one for one. Laura Bush (nee Welch) even killed her ex-boyfriend while stone cold sober. Teddy got his sentence suspended, but Laura wasn't charged with anything at all. Dead guy? Meh.
But Teddy was famous already, and part of a political family, so the pig-pile on him has not stopped to this day.
One Key Difference
Laura Bush has never been elected to an office, isn't running for office, and was not a sitting member of congress when she mowed down that young man, either.
Judgment
This is a reason that Teddy's judgment should be more important to all of us than Laura's. However, the way Chappaquiddick is used has little to do with judgment.
People don't say "I don't think I believe him on the education bill ... because 28 years ago he showed execrable judgment in the Chappaquiddick incident." People just tar him and call him names based on it, and they do so mostly because he's in the other political party.
So fine. Laura "Stop Sign" Bush it is.
Laura's not holding or running for any office
so it's really not comparable.
So we're free to discuss
So we're free to discuss GWB's drunk driving arrest in Maine?
Oh yes
that definitely deserves some attention, as it shows his poor judgement. (Though I don't recall him injuring or killing anyone that time.)
