His cat is missing

Spatch reports he has not seen his cat, Abbie, since Sunday:

... I don't want to lose the big guy so soon. This is killing me inside and I feel absolutely helpless from behind this desk. I've contacted animal control and nearby vets and agencies. Nobody's brought in a throw rug yet. It's rainy and shitty outside. He won't be going anywhere for a while if it's a safe space from that orange cat and his friends. I don't want ANYTHING right now except to have my buddy back. Come back, buddy. You're the best goddamn cat in the world and you don't deserve to be miserable right about now.

How upsetting! Lets hope that somebody took him in and is looking for you to take him home! I hope you can get those flyers out ASAP. Also, try to think like a lost cat and check any "shelter" spaces you might find within a short range of your house and ask people to check their basements and garages and sheds for unusually furry hobos - our late great cat got stuck in a neighbor's garage for a couple of nights once.

I found a dog wandering around the middle of Rt. 38 one evening, in grave danger of being hit by a car, so I took her home and gave her dinner and a bed for the night. Her people were frantically looking for her, not knowing that some stranger had taken her out of the middle of the road for her own safety and brought her home. Because I put out the word in my neighborhood by e-mail, somebody eventually went to get a hair cut and told her daughter-in-law that the stylist was all upset about her lost dog ...

As the owner of two cats myself I would be devastated to know they were outside in the cold and couldn't find them. Luckily it hasn't been too cold with all this rain - so I hope he's just trying to stay dry. I hope he turns up soon.

I've had a couple of big ol' tomcats go missing for a week at a time, so I know the feeling. They came home. Of course, they eventually crossed over into that bourne from which none return. However, I've written about a friend's cat that was missing for a month or so, only to be found holing up in a neighbor's garage, so keep up the good spirits. Cats will, as I'm sure you're aware, seek refuge from foul weather, etc., and they're very self-sufficient.

I'll say a prayer for you and your guy.

Spatch -

Would you like to post a description and a general vicinity we might see him? You never know. This is a big community here and we have lots of eyes.

Spatch,

You're a great cat owner, and you don't deserve to be miserable right now, either. I hope he finds his way back to you soon, and you can add this to the list of Abbie's shenanigans.

Sarah
