Imagine if Tom Menino blogged

Mayor Jim's Weblog - by Haverhill Mayor Jim Fiorentini. Also see Methuen Mayor Bill Manzi's blog.

Could some kind WordPress-savvy Haverhillian help Mayor Jim figure out how to use the same font size in his posts?

Somerville Mayor Joe's blog

By Ron Newman | Tue, 02/12/2008 - 1:21pm

is here, hosted by GateHouse Media's Somerville Journal.

Also, someone should tell Mayor Jim that "Mayor's" is not the plural of "Mayor".

Lowell City Manager

The Lowell City Manager has a blog, too.

Mayor's United

By Gareth | Tue, 02/12/2008 - 1:31pm

And I didn't even know he had fallen apart.

Something tells me the United Mayor didn't study English in college. Though he seems to have big ideas... what are they, 22-point?

I'm having a real hard time with this

Imagining Tom "It's like an Alcatraz around my Neck"
Menino blogging. A festival of fractured syntax
and mayoral malapropism from the Oracle of Readville!
Good lord, we would need some kind translating software
plugin for our browsers.

That's the big screen at the stadium. Kevin White is rolling over in his grave. Of course, it is hot down there, so you need to turn occasionally.

Do they have

Duck-Ducks there?

Sadji who?

And let's not get into his attempt to introduce Seiji Ozawa at a BSO concert on Boston Common in 1998. He couldn't correctly say "Tanglewood Festival Chorus", either.

White's not dead yet

By adamg | Tue, 02/12/2008 - 3:19pm

And as for Menino, yeah, yeah, say what you will, but our trash still gets picked up every Wednesday, and the cops, firetrucks and EMTs still come when we call (fortunately, I've never needed all three at once, but you get the idea).

When's the last time the BSO played in Somerville? :-).

The people who actually run

By Zumbi de Roxbury (not verified) | Tue, 03/11/2008 - 1:54pm

The people who actually run the city are the entrenched bureaucrats and civil service people. Hats off to them for keeping things running in a lousy political environment.

However, any improvisation or changes to the great communicator's program is ignored. If you are too loud, then you may be crushed ("the nail that sticks up, is hammered down").

The unplanned and erratic "development" that is going on is an example of intuition rather than rationality. But the objective is met and that is cash flow away from the community and into the pockets of the connected few.

PS I discovered U-Hub in the Phoenix. The site was the best thing in that issue and I'll spread the word.
