How's your German?

The Boston Condo Guy reports:

... We talk with a growing number of Europeans each week who are interested in buying Boston investment property, or a Boston vacation home in one of America’s most historic cities. Europeans recognize that downtown Boston real estate will always hold its value, and the best time to "get in" is when their currency allows them to do so at a discount.

Maybe there'll be more places like this opening up in the area. If you've never had a pretzel in Germany, you've never actually had a pretzel. I've had cravings for them since my last trip. Luckily my brother lives in the same town as this bakery, so I have more reasons to visit him.

We now have more proof of why we should abandon the trend towards remaking the city in the Kendall Square / South Boston Waterfront suburban office park style.

Replacing EOT and MBTA management with Germans would probably do wonders for the region. French or Japanese transit managers would probably have the same effect.

The Deutsche Bahn can take over the MBTA Commuter Rail and maybe the BVG (Berlin's version of the MBTA) can take over the rest of the T. The only downside is that the Commuter Rail trains would be the rather boring red and white livery used by the DB instead of the current funky grey-purple-yellow paint scheme, and all subways, streetcars and buses that make up the T would be yellow. All yellow.

A couple of years ago, a German magazine (Focus, maybe) had a cartoon in which a traveler was carting the Statue of Liberty home. He explained, "Das Dollar ist so schwach, könnte ich nicht widerstehen." (The dollar is so weak, I couldn't resist.)
