Don' t you hate it when you leave your briefcase at home?

Binderhead

If you work around South Station or the convention center, you've seen all those AIIM arrow signs. AIIM is this industry group for document-management and printer/copier companies basically, and they're having their annual show this week (although all the really cool kids are at the much more elite Drupalcon Boston 2008, also at the convention center). This poor guy was walking around the show floor yesterday with paper on the brain.

Are you at this event as well?

Adam: Are you covering this show as well? I got one of the Mr Paperhead bobbleheads -- was pretty surprised to see him on UniversalHub!

Heh

I'm one of the cool kidz upstairs at Drupal, but I have my AIIM badge. Are you wandering around or at a booth?

Itinerant journalist?

I'm wandering around AIIM but I peeked in some of the Drupalcon sessions -- definitely a geekier crowd up there (so I felt right at home). I'll be here until about 5pm or so, perhaps I will run in to you up on the second floor!

what's the story of that photo?

Did someone just throw all that stuff at his face?

Booth babe for the document set

By adamg | Wed, 03/05/2008 - 1:55pm

Paper excites them :-).

Maria can probably explain it better. I got to the show floor pretty much at closing (and since I had to rush to West Roxbury to pick up the kidlet, couldn't stay for the open bar at one vendor's booth), so, no, I have no idea what he was selling. Probably some document-management "solution" that works "seamlessly" across today's "heterogeneous" environments.

hahaha nice

I'm going to let them know Mr. Paperhead's been referred to as a booth babe now :P Basically it's a mascot for a software company -- they're all about reducing paper use in office processes (billing, procuring, anything you can imagine) and making it all electronic to increase efficiency and reduce paper waste. For anyone interested, the company in question is Captaris. (And Mr. Paperhead has a MySpace.)
Ron, at the next Davis_Square meetup, I'd be happy to tell you all about it! :P

Man or mannequin?

By Ron Newman | Wed, 03/05/2008 - 2:21pm

Is that a real person or a statue?

Oh, Paperhead Man is all man, alright

By adamg | Wed, 03/05/2008 - 2:28pm

Here he is today, wandering away from his booth and challenging his arch-nemesis, Datacap Biker Dude to a challenge of ultimate good vs. evil (he knows, full well, that Biker Dude's bike is, in fact, bolted to the floor, bwa-ha-ha).

Sleep deprived? Me? In any case, thanks, Maria, for suggesting I set through a Captaris demo, so now I have one of his bobbleheads. I'm up at the Drupal wing for the duration, but yeah, if you see some guy with glasses, a beard and a weird grayish/greenish shirt wandering around, say hello.

Beaten To a Pulp?

Will you write a pulp novel with this story line? I'm sure it would be a real page turner.

Do it quickly

Sorry but ...

Mr. Paperhead's MySpace page

By adamg | Wed, 03/05/2008 - 3:03pm

Here. What, no Facebook page?

I believe they had that dude

By grahams | Wed, 03/05/2008 - 6:04pm

I believe they had that dude at AIIM last year as well.. I've been on the fence all week, my company is exhibiting there, but I just don't feel like making the trek out to the Convention Center to check out the show... Maybe I'll check it out tomorrow, it'd be nice to see what our competitors are up to...
