Finally: A title to put on my Universal Hub business card
By adamg - Wed, 03/05/2008 - 4:35pm.
Adam Gaffin, Boston's reigning Web czar. Thanks to Adam Reilly at the Phoenix for getting me up to my 14th minute - in an article that features a photo of my "perpetually worried look" (man, he got that right) taken through my glasses, which are not on my face.

Don't let it go to your head, Adam
;~}
MEK
Congratulations!
Hey Adam,
Congratulations on the article. It's nice to see all your hard work pay off with some recognition.
Kudos
Nice article, pretty well written.
I would take a small exception to the idea that if you weren't the majority poster that the site would suffer. Sure, people would be turned away if we had 10 more "the zak"-esque posts per day but I don't think some other contributions that have been made to the front page have been detrimental. Most of the time, I usually see a story of interest and it's already been covered, so I end up commenting in its discussion rather than posting it.
Maybe I need to try harder to find the things you don't find (heh, good luck to me). But I don't think a few more well-written stories would somehow take away from what makes this site great as is sort of suggested by the article.
Congratulations!
You deserve the limelight. Good work!
Damn Nice Piece, Adam
And well-deserved. I'm proud to be part of this community.

What They All Said
Great article, and about time. I come here before Boston.com in the morning.
Congrats!
Blessed, indeed, are the Cheesemakers. For
they have brought us Adam and UH.
That's great! Congratulations.
Loved the article. You've got to frame that pic, it's very cool. :)
Bravo
Now, please tell us what this column does to your traffic stats in the next few days.
congrats!
Wish I'd seen the article earlier today, I would have known a bit more specifically who to look for at Drupalcon. (Given the demographics there, "glasses and a beard" could have been pretty much anybody! :P)
Look at you, all famous-y and stuff!
Nice little recognition piece there. And I don't think you look too worried in the photo

Well Done
Great piece -- both accurate and well-deserved.
And there's that lion
that you refuse to put on Flickr in the background.
Wait just a second!
Czar? Old State House?? March 5th!??
If the next words out of your mouth, Adam, are "membership fee" or "user tax" or Pete "Townshend", then so help me, there's gonna be a massacre!
Hehe. Odd that they chose that location given the date.
Why they chose that site
First, thanks all for the kind words!
The original idea for the photo was to have me standing on the "hub of the universe" outside the old Filene's, but darned if that thing isn't walled off now due to the demolition (one can only hope they keep it). The Phoenix's photo editor decided instead on the Old State House because she's convinced it's what Holmes was talking about when he coined the phrase; I tried to convince the photographer that Holmes was really talking about the New State House, but eh, I shouldn't kvetch.
NICE!
Congrats man! That's pretty cool... I wish I were as cool as you!!! ;)
Seriously though... very cool.
Congratulations
Well deserved.
Nice write-up
FWIW, you're the only Boston blog I read now on a daily bas...um...ever.
Hey, if some bad shit goes down at Checkmate or the Rialto barbershop, I know where I'm going for news.
Awesome!
Congratulations! We should take over the Fornax and have a Roslindale blog party or something.

Mmmmm...Fornax.[/homer]
That's awesome
Go Adam!
Gaffin and Reilly
Easily the best two guys named Adam in the Boston media scene.
Your czardom
I learn far more about what's happening in Boston from "U-Hub" than from any other source. It says a lot about your work and the content you spotlight when the major news sources read this blog for story ideas (after speaking with a few local producers, I know they do!)
Congrats!
What a great article! I was going to say "and wow, they even put in a couple links!" but then I realized it was the Phoenix, not the Globe.
;-)
Let's hear it for the Czar!
And it's always nice to see an online article written by someone who Gets It, ay?
Good on ya, Adam!
Congratulations
Nice article. I have to say that although I know I could post links to my own stuff on UH, somehow it feels more "real" if I know that you decided it made sense to post the UH article and link yourself.
Czar, huh...
Does this mean that we have to genuflect when we see you now?
Only when the kidlet's not around
Because we watched that Baba Wawa special on the royal family the other night and when they showed Her Nibs knighting some guy, who, of course, is all prostrate, I got all revolutionary-like and told her that if she ever meets the queen, she doesn't have to bow down or curtsy because she's an American, and we fought a whole war so we wouldn't have to kneel before foppish royals like that, dagnabbit!
Both she and my wife looked at me like I was kinda nuts for some reason.
NICE
Great article, Adam. Happy to see that you are being recognized for your hard work... In many ways Universal Hub is a service to Boston's neighborhoods.
nice article
congrats! it's about time the rest of 'em caught on.
Dude!
Sheesh, look what happens when I don't read my U-Hub for a few days ....
Congratulations, Adam! Nicely written article, and the praise is very well-deserved. I suppose there's no living with you now, huh?
