Don't make me hate you, Channel 4

Over the past year or so, Channel 4 has gotten wicked good at breaking certain kinds of local stories - if there's a fire in a T tunnel or a bad crash on I-93, you can rely on their Web site to have it first. And then there's this, posted today:

Tom Brady & Gisele Caught On Tape 'Hooking Up'?

By David Robichaud. David Robichaud? Wait, isn't he a real reporter? Who gets paid and everything? A lot? The Web version of the story ends:

Is there something more you would like us to know about this story? Do you have a news tip to share with WBZ?

Yes, there is something more I would like you to know about this story. IT SUCKS.

This isn't news

This is TMI!

I mean, I'm sure numerous people have entertained themselves by imagining the two of them, but ... video? ... yuck.

Maybe I should have shot some video of the two skunks in the street last night. They were chasing, flirting, calling to each other ... I could have put on Muskrat Love as a soundtrack and sent it to Channel 4.

I'm sure they could have worked the "corrupting children" angle as Pepe and his love were keeping them both awake and enthralled.

Stay classy, Tom!

I know a dank and dim wine stube
A nasty hole that stinks of lube
A blurry bum, a flash of boob
And tomorrow it’s all on You Tube! Ole!

ah, the age old question...

the unfortunate truth: People care about this crap.
Lots of denials, but people DO watch and read.
We all see the crap that has become news (pop culture, celebrity and three-legged dogs). It's about advertising money. Media needs to pay the bills. and, people buy the papers and tune in to watch this crap, so why would the media change it? (thank God for PBS).
And, until "you" (refering to everyone who watches/reads "news", but no one in particular including myself) stop watching or reading this crap, "you" waive the right to ridicule pseudo-"journalism".
so, basically, the moral of this rant is a question, Does anyone have ideas on how the hell to fix it (besides getting all your news from universal hub)?

It's all a matter of perspective

And the media has none these days.

The lead story on almost every 11p local newscast last night?

Swayze has cancer.

No joke. There wasn't a single more pressing concern in the city, state, or region? I mean the guy was in some okay movies, but ditditdaditditdaditdit-this-just-in hyping of him having cancer?? When the NATIONAL ENQUIRER breaks a story, it should NEVER lead off a newscast!
