Boston Police surprised some black people don't like the idea of warrantless searches

So the department has postponed its Safe Homes program again.

Request for the Globe: You mention in the story you interviewed the local leader of the New Black Panther Party twice. Can we hope that this means you'll be doing a story on the party for those of us who didn't even know it existed until we read your story and then went online to learn that part of the party's platform is to organize armed "Black People's Militias" and to stop blacks from "snitching" and cooperating with police? See Point 7 in the party's 10-point platform.

Jay-Z said it best

[Verse Two]
The year's '94 and my trunk is raw
In my rear view mirror is the mother f---in' law
I got two choices y'all pull over the car or (hmmm)
Bounce on the double put the pedal to the floor
Now I ain't tryin' to see no highway chase with Jay.
Plus i got a few dollars i can fight the case
So I...pull over to the side of the road
I heard "Son do you know why I'm stoppin' you for?"
Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hats real low?
Do I look like a mind reader sir, I don't know
Am I under arrest or should I gas em up?
"Well you was doin fifty-five in a fifty-fo' "
"License and registration and step out of the car"
"Are you carryin' a weapon on you I know a lot of you are"
I ain't steppin out of sh-t all my paper's legit
"Well, do you mind if I look round the car a little bit?"
Well my glove compartment is locked so is the trunk in the back
And I know my rights so you gon' need a warrant for that
"Aren't you sharp as a tack, you some type of lawyer or something'?"
"Or somebody important or somethin'?"
Nah, I ain't pass the bar but i know a little bit
Enough that you won't illegally search my shit
"We'll see how smart you are when the K9 come"
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

wow

he sure did.

Meh

It doesn't really read well.

Perhaps I should have chosen something from Mos Def.

It's actually the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense

And they're a black separatist movement and they specifically target whites moving into traditionally black neighborhoods (they don't mention Hispanics or Asians), and they'll "deal firmly and appropriately" with "black" politicians with whom they don't agree, according to their fill-in-city-name 9-point local New Black Panther Party for Self Defense page. One thing they are not:

NO, WE ARE NOT GUARDIAN ANGELS.

Again we must fight gentrification or THE WHITE TAKEOVER of the (CITY). We recognize this as a conspiracy to remove our people, and will fight against it by any means necessary. We, with the community, shall establish a new code of conduct in the Black community of love, sisterhood, brotherhood, intelligence, peace, respect and unity and struggle.

They also hate Jews, or as they call them, "Jews," and they demand reparations specifically from them, in addition to reparations from whites in general.

Also:

We want an immediate end to POLICE HARRASSMENT, BRUTALITY and MURDER of Black People. We want an end to Black-on-Black violence, "snitching," cooperation and collaboration with the oppressor.

We believe we can end police brutality in our community by organizing Black self-defense groups (Black People’s Militias/Black Liberation Armies) that are dedicated to defending our Black Community from racist, fascist, police/military oppression and brutality. The Second Amendment of white America's Constitution gives a right to bear arms. We therefore believe that all Black People should unite and form and "African United Front" and arm ourselves for self-defense.

So, yeah, it might be interesting for the Globe to do a follow-up article on a group they mentioned fairly prominently in their story today.

Reparations

They don't just want reparations from us "Jews", they also want reparations from: England, France, Spain, "all of Europe", Arabs, and ... Africa!

The Globe Has Priorities, Though

Who can afford the time to interview these people? Didn't you see today's front page story? People (even Globe readers) are having to sell kayaks in these desperate economic times!

It's her own fault

I have no sympathy here.

If she'd just spend just $.75/day on the Globe,
she'd be rushing to buy at the Newton Collection condos,
just like the rest of the Globe readers.

Splitters

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Doesn't get it

Third Decade, who lives in Roxbury, writes that police are going to have to do a better job justifying warrantless searches when their own figures show crime is down - and that the Globe is going to have to do a better job investigating police claims for the proposed program.
