Easter Sunday: a Good Time for a brawl

Easter Sunday. For some people, it's a holy day to spend in church. For some others, a day to dress up in costume at the Hynes anime convention. And then you've got the folks at Good Time Emporium in Somerville:
Hundreds of people, some with bats and knives, fought inside the children's birthday party area at Good Time Emporium on Easter Sunday, according to police.
When Officer James McNally arrived at the scene, he said he saw a crowd of 150 to 200 people fighting, with "tables and chairs being thrown in every direction."
Fortunately, this place will soon be torn down, to be replaced with an IKEA store. At last report, they plan to relocate to Natick, where they'll fit in fine alongside Neiman-Marcus and Nordstrom.

Backup
Isn't there a State Police barracks about a mile away near Wellington Circle? I don't know the heirarchy of how backup works but seems strange that they'd call campus police before the staties if the situation was as bad as described.

good times is a bucket of blood (as my mother used to say).ive got some friends in bands that play there and its usually pretty sketchy.someone got run down one night i was there a couple of years ago.im guessing it was a pretty white trash crowd taking the kids to good times for easter.coronas and easter egg hunts always lead to trouble.
Gone Down Hill
GoodTime used to be a good place where adults could have a beer and watch a game and kids could go play the carnival stuff and everyone was happy.
They have done ZERO maintenance in recent years and yet it has become increasingly popular. They run boxing nights and other types of promotions that result in large crowds of drunk people with divided loyalties. I have to wonder what else has been going on there - drugs, bookies, etc. and if they gained crowd share when other places shut down/were shut down? Anybody know?
This event sounds like it was pre-planned - not by the management, but by the patrons.

I agree with Swirly. I haven't been there in many years but Good Times was a fun place. Kind of a no-frills, no yuppies version of Jillians on Landesdowne Street. Certainly more fun than an Ikea. Probably the lack of maintenance is tied to its imminent destruction and replacement by corporate welfare-subsidized box stores.
