Idearc Media sucks

And not just because they run commercials that make you go "What? Who cares?" Jessica Lipnack explains all the problems her company has with its Verizon e-mail service, which turns out is actually run by Idearc.

Idearc Media
I don't know what else this company does (and I've never seen the commercials), but they publish the Verizon White and Yellow Pages phone books.
Heh
Well, yeah, everybody who's seen the commercials (roughly 76 trillion gazillion bajillon times by now) knows that - and how they also run the online versions of those, such as Switchboard (oh, my, does anybody remember when that was just a demonstration project for Banyan Vines?).
Switchboard and SuperPages
I didn't realize they ran Switchboard until you posted that. They also run a seemingly competing service, SuperPages.com .
And, of course, SuperPages.com started out as ...
Verizon's BigYellow. And so the Idiarc circle of life is complete, as is my sudden realization that, oh, my God, I've become one of those people who can't remember important things such as when the car payment is due, because my brain is full of completely useless information such as what SuperPages.com used to be called.
Buffer Overrun
my brain is full of completely useless information
So, what are all the lyrics to all those late 70s/early 80's soft hits displacing?
The lyrics to all those late 60s pop hits, of course
"Build Me Up, Buttercup," anyone?
That, and the 60 of the 80 digits of pi I memorized in high school so I could have one math/science thing I could do better than the alpha geek in AP chemistry (so yes, I was thrilled to see the story yesterday about the guy who's memorized some ludicrious number of, um, numbers past 3.1415).
You don't use an automatic monthly debit?
Adam, that's what online banking is good at. Postage stamps and paper checks are so 20th-century....
We're so 19th-century
I actually make the car payments online, but, no, I haven't yet set them up to be automatic.
Thanks for this post. It's
Thanks for this post. It's pulling lots of people over to the original. And it continues. Today, Idearc tech support updated me with this: they'll update me tomorrow. Thanks for commenting on my blog, Ron.
No payments until you get business.........
I was called by an idearc media rep who told me that my young business would be listed in a spot on their site and that I would only pay a percent of my job to them, providing that the job came from them. I have a roofing company. I'm no idiot so I knew that what he was saying was too good to be true so I made him repeat, while I recorded that I would be liable for only a percent of business that they brought me. Later on that week I received a bill for over $200.00. I immediately sent in a cancellation which was within the short 14 days. It has now been 5 months and i'm now receiving $500.00 a month bills. When i've called idearc media they have been VERY unhelpful to the point of being hostile. After arguing with them for the past six months about whether or not I cancelled and was misled, I have now been freed from them by the guy who initally called me. Be careful about believing the things these guys tell you. They are very sneaky.
