News for monied Boston-area women
Above the fold, in today's Boston Globe,
we have a story about "monied Boston-area
women" building a girl's achool in Rwanda:
Meanwhile, Boston English is looking at losing it's
accreditation, and Menino had to find $10m this week
to keep schools in exotic places like Mattapan
and East Boston running.
Hey ladies, when you get home and have a few spare
minutes, could you take a look at some place like
the Jeremiah E. Burke?
And maybe that description of the Globe as "owned
by moguls written by interns" needs to be amended.
Owned by moguls, who are written about by interns.

Yeah, so...take a look at the neighborhood around the capitol and all their nice (and expensive to maintain) gas lamps. Now, what was that about not having money to educate people? I remember a year or so ago, the Globe was all in a tizzy about the Great Mantle Debacle, where the city got defective mantles or...something. And wouldn't you know, it was like the devil was rolling into town to these people.
Now stroll down a few blocks to Chinatown, and see what an utter craphole everything maintained by the city is. The sidewalks are falling apart, uneven, and as cheap as possible (tarmac), where they're pristine perfect stone a few blocks up.
See, it's all about priorities and political power. Cobblestone roads, brick paths, and cute gas lanterns > education for poor people, because poor people don't drive the city or state government. It's all about the middle / upper class, never the poor. Remember all those problems with insufficient ballots? Remember how it was only in JP, Roxbury, Dorchester, etc?
Huh?

What does a neighborhood in Washington DC have to do with Boston?
